The small black car drove up to the familiar building. Just another elementary school.

But for little Rosemary it was already a place she associated with fear and anxiety. Clutching her book bag she tried to prolong the amount of time she had to spend at that place for as long as she could, slowly kissing her mother goodbye and whispering the words "See you later" before climbing out of the vehicle.

She heard the car drive off and turned to look at its fleeting shape, trying to ignore the longing feeling to run after it and cry for it to take her with it. But she knew that she would have to tough it out and make the most of it.

The school bell rang and she jolted before realising it was just the bell. Her normal mask of anticipating doom was donned as she forced her legs to carry her to room 12.

Seating herself near the back, she had hoped that no one would notice her, in fact she crossed all her fingers and toes. But meaningless finger gestures for luck never worked, for the usual crowd of girls went straight for her desk. Like always.

The leader of the small pack was quick to put her pudgy hand on the desk and take the pencil that had been sitting peacefully only moments ago.

"What's the matter stupid head? Didn't feel like bringing your lame book today?"

Rosemary said nothing knowing that her response would be meaningless to the girls.

"What's wrong idiot? Are you mute too Stupidmary?"

The girls let of peals of laughter clearly thinking that placing stupid and ending it with the suffix -mary like the -mary in Rosemary was the smartest thing ever said since addition.

" You really are weird Rosemary, no one even likes you! Your such a kid too! We're all older than you, so you have to listen to us!"

Again Rosemary said nothing and looked away wondering how she got placed in this class with these idiots.

"Eww is that a bow in your hair? It's soo ugly too"

The bow was perfectly fine. It was beautiful even.

"Give it to me" The girl stretched her hand out, bending her fat fingers up and down in the signal to give it to her.

"No"

"I'll tell my mom on youu!"

"No"

"I'll tell the teacher!"

It was then that the teacher walked in and the girl with her gang were forced to sit back in their seats.

The rest of Rosemary's day passed on without event and she ate her lunch with the detention kids to avoid the girls.

Without a doubt they were waiting outside to take the bow from her by force. They must look very stupid waiting outside. It made her smile.

"Hey! Can I have that?"

She froze. The girls couldn't have gone inside, only detention kids are allowed. Did they get detention just to torment her?! But how could they have done it?

"Are you okay?"

She turned her head to look at the boy next to her. He was pointing at a fruit candy in her lunch box, and looking at her with concern. She relaxed and a breath of relief left her.

"Yeah I'm ok, you can have it"

"Cool! Thanks!"

The boy with curly hair took it and shoved it in his mouth with a smile.

" I'm Percy by the way!"

"I'm Rosemary, nice to meet you"
