The calming sound of an alarm goes off around 6am every morning.
A small piece of humanity I like to keep, ever since I stopped sleeping completely. The first few months were the same, I'd fall asleep like normal. Then overtime the less and less I became tired, until sleep was nonexistent.
Curious why, you might be? Well I was turned into a vampire.
To be precise. It all happened about three years ago. All I remember was waking up in that old, abandoned St. John's church down in Fablewood. The one that's been boarded up for 7 years now if I'm not mistaken.
In any case I woke up with two bite marks on the right side of my neck and an excruciating headache that lasted about a couple weeks.
Now like most vampires you read in literature or watched in those old pop culture movies. I got superhuman strength, super speed and all of my senses drastically improved, and the whole cliche about vampires not being able to stand out under the sun. Well, that was either made up by some drunken, old fool centuries ago or that rule just doesn't apply to me.
Now the cliche about vampires having the thirst for blood isn't so far fetched. You see, the first couple weeks I was able to fight the urge for blood, but by the fourth week. The craving not only overpowered me in the end but the pain I went through for rejecting it. Is a feeling I wish I never have to go through ever again.
I was on the verge of death or so it felt like. My head felt compressed. My body felt like it was being hit repeatedly by a sledgehammer. Above all that, my thirst was as if I was dehydrated and left in the middle of the desert with the endless heat from the sun drying out my entire insides.
So I had no choice but to indulge in it. Yeah it might sound pretty damn inhumane when thinking about it. However I've never once drank human blood. Only blood from animals and before you think I'm some kind of savage beast going around biting any animal I see in the neck.
The blood I drank was from this butcher shop just down the street from my apartment complex.
I guess I ended up blacking out then waking up the following morning to old man Butch standing above me while I was laid up in a puddle of cow blood. To my discovery. Cow blood works just as well as human blood, at least that's my theory for now.
I hate rambling on like this so to put it bluntly. My reasoning for me mentioning all this is I've never once asked to become a vampire in the first place. To some people it might sound like a dream come true in whatever fantasy land they like to daydream about. As for me, all I've experienced so far is hell.
The headaches I get from hearing every single person's heart beat that's around me, to the foul smell of rotting corpses a few miles away, to having to seclude myself from the rest of the world. Simply because I feel as if I don't fit in.
No, it's because I know I don't fit in.
Having said that, with my new enhanced abilities I was able to easily become a detective and made it my goal to find out whoever or whatever the hell turned me into this creature. When I do I plan on making them pay.
However, even after a year of becoming a detective. I still have yet to find any leads to who that might be.
*Sigh* This is gonna be a pain in the ass just you wait and see.
