Chapter 4

Well there's gotta be batteries in here somewhere, "Tiki spots off" I start making my way down the stairs. Still searching for any batteries. I started to raid cupboards and shelves for anything. Gosh where did my parents keep these things??? I searched everywhere for batteries and couldn't find a single one. Fuck man I really don't wanna but one, let me call Alya see if she has a spare. I pick up my phone selecting the contacts app, selecting Alyas hoping she will pick up. The phone rings, once, twice, and on the third ring I hear her voice,
"Hey what's up girl, did you find anything out?"
"A few things but I'm planning on leaving a GoPro on a roof facing the building, but I need a battery, do you have one?" I ask crossing my fingers,
"I might let me look," I can hear her shuffling around and I hear things being moved and opened. It took a minute of waiting before I heard her
"ah Ha!!! I got one!!! If you wanna come pick it up from my house real quick you can." I did a victory dance behind the screen, I don't have to pay for a new one.
"Okay I'll be on my way keep your window open Imma just pop in and grab it" I said getting my GoPro ready,
"Sounds good, see you soon" we hung up the call, before transforming I let tiki eat a macaroon. Once ready I headed out my window to alyas house. I held onto the gopro tight as I swung from rooftop to rooftop. I approached Alyas house, her window wide open for me to swing through. I landed in her room to be greeted by her scrolling on her phone just hanging upside down from her bed, without moving from her position she looks to me and points to her desk,
"Battery is right there let me know what you find" I turn back towards he and smile,
"Thanks Alya you're a lifesaver, I will" I turn around and put in the battery to the GoPro before heading back out from her window. Now I had to think, how long did I want to leave the camera there? Eventually it will run out of battery and I'll have to replace it again. I swung across the city still in my thoughts. I reached the buildings surrounding the Agreste mansion, now where do I want to put the camera? I looked around for a little bit before finding a roof that had a clear shot of the observatory and adriens window in the corner. That way I can monitor if any akumas fly out of any window. Ugh I feel like such a stalker, but I needed evidence before continuing on with the accusation of Gabriel being monarch. I set the camera perfectly, making sure it was recording before I started to turn around. I really hope I'm right about this... I will come back tomorrow to get the camera. I started to head back to my house, I was drowning in my own thoughts. Is this gonna work? What if I have the wrong person? Am I being a stalker right now? I landed in my room and de-transformed,
"Tiki, do you think I'm doing the right thing?" I sat down on my bed discouraged,
"I think it's a good idea Marinette!! And if nothing happens then nothing happens!" She smiled as she took a macaroon from my hand. I rubbed my temples, I can't believe I'm this paranoid over a stupid camera. It's fine, I just need to let it go or else I won't stop thinking about it. "Hey princess, whatcha up to?" Luckily Tiki heard him coming and hid out of his view. I turned to him putting on a half smile,
"Nothing much, just thinking about things...." He came and sat next to me and let out a soft sigh, his presence was so comforting. Almost like an addiction to be near him all the time.
"What are you thinking about?" He looked at me softly and I just looked away for a moment thinking about how to respond to him. I can't just tell him I put a camera up by someone's house bc I think they are Monarch.
"Oh nothing, nothing. But what are you doing here? It's 2pm don't you have villains to fight?" He looked down for a moment,
"Well ladybug was supposed to show up for patrol, but she never came. But I can reassure you that everything was in its proper order. No villains yet surprisingly." Shit I forgot about today's patrol! Ugh I feel so bad, but I mean why did he come here afterwards?
"I'm sorry kitty, but I'm glad you are here with me right now." His eyes softened staring into mine, I noticed features I've never seen before, just taking in his hair texture, his face shape everything.
"I'm glad I'm here too, Marinette, though I do have to get going. I promise I will come back tonight. This was just a stop by." He got up reaching for the hatch to my balcony, "stay safe princess." At that moment I wanted to tell him to stay, the warmth of his hand leaving mine was too much to bear right now. I needed him to distract me more from my thoughts....
"You too minou..."I let him go, watching as he left. Closing my hatch softly and jumping away. I sighed and laid down on the soft bed under me. I think I really am gaining feelings for that silly cat.
"Marinette!!!," Tiki flew towards me, she looked a little panicked, "I think there's an akumatized villain!!" I looked out my window for a minute not seeing anything, until I saw chat hopping quickly towards a puff of smoke in the distance.
"Alright let's do this, Tiki Spots on!"I felt the suit replace my clothes like normal, everything felt so much more surreal. I grabbed my yo yo, throwing it outside my window. I swung across the streets looking for chat and the mysterious villain. I heard a scream coming from my right and I changed directions immediately. A giant bear looking guy with a turtle miraculous shield around his head??? I felt an arm pull me to the side,
"Finally m'lady you showed up. This wacko is calling himself kiecoo, and I think the akuma might be in his helmet. The problem is we can't get to it." I sat there puzzled, how did a villain have a miraculous power? Did Monarch trust his akumatized victims that much???
"Okay, hold on. How does he have the power of the turtle miraculous?" I sat there dumbfounded, I have to use my lucky charm.
"I'm not sure m'lady but we gotta be quick." He looked around apprehensively, paying attention to everything around him. I called out for my lucky charm, a giant blanket fell into my hands. I looked around,
"Chat cover for me, distract him." He gave me a quick nod, he looks so hot- uGH not now!!! I got to focus!!! I watched as chat went and started to talk to him and do what he does best, Distract. He was so mesmerizing to watch, I shook my head. I need to focus, I looked around I thought what if I throw the blanket on his head he will have to refocus. When I was bout to throw it he multipled, how??? He has multiple miraculous powers? I watched as Chat narrowed the guy back down to one and I threw the blanket on him having him change the sheild onto chat I jumped down and broke his helmet. The akuma flew out. I snatched the butterfly with my yo yo,
"Bye bye little butterfly," throwing my miraculous up in the air it returned everything back how it was. I walked over to chat, I helped him up staring into his eyes I didn't even process what he was saying,
"Uh ladybug?," he scratched the back of his neck nervously, "everything alright?" I snapped back into reality, god he was really doing something to me,
"Yes everything is fine, sorry. I'll see you later, chat!!" I ran off before we could even do our fist bump. I ducked into an alleyway, "tiki spots off" she flew into my hand, looking exhausted I gave her a macaroon I had on hand. I sighed as I placed her gently into my bag and started to walk the rest of the way home.
"Marinette, are you okay?" Tiki whispered I looked down to her, with a soft gaze,
"Yeah he's just so handsome, I don't understand how I didn't fall for him sooner Tiki." She face palmed, almost seeming like she knew something I didn't.
"Oh marinette you are so ridiculous." She shook her head as she smiled to herself. I walked in through the door, I looked around and saw my parents' bags, they were home.
"MARINETTE!!! Oh I missed you my sweet baby" my mom showered me in kisses as my dad came up from behind and hugged us both, lifting us off the ground.
"My family is back together again" my father said sighing as he put us down,
"I'm glad to see you guys too, we can talk about your trip later. I have to do some...homework!!! That's it. I love you guys!" I ran up the stairs, I closed the hatch and sighed I just can't wait any longer I want chat to be here sooner.
