"what do you think you're gonna do?"
taehyung looked up at the question, meeting his best friend's gaze across the table. yoongi was standing on the other side, bag nestled against his back as he waited patiently for taehyung to pack up. it took a few moments before he finally realized he hadn't responded.
"oh! um." taehyung straightened up, scratching the back of his neck in thought. "i was thinking of going down to the beach and snapping some pictures, probably going to do a collage of sorts."
yoongi hummed in response as taehyung went back to packing, slinging his bag over his shoulders when he was done. he looked lost in thought, staring off into the distance with a clouded look. "what about you, hyung?"
"me?" he was still there, at least. "i'm not sure. might do an experimental painting of sorts." taehyung couldn't help but laugh, hiding his smile sheepishly. "what? i can do it!"
"i didn't say you couldn't." taehyung responded, still grinning behind his hand. yoongi rolled his eyes, pouting just the slightest bit as they headed out of the school. it was the end of the day, and they had just been given their final project for the quarter.
"do you want to come over? we can discuss ideas or watch a movie or something." yoongi shoved his hands in his pockets as they stepped outside, relishing the fresh air for a moment.
"rain check?" taehyung glances up at the sky, knowing there was rain in the near forecast. "i need to hit the beach before the nice weather is gone."
yoongi nods in understanding, giving him a smile. "be safe, let me know when you're home."
"of course, hyung. you, too." taehyung gave a small wave before he readjusted his backpack, headed into the direction of the beach.

the beach always lifted taehyung's spirits. it was one of the places he could call his home away from home. the salty tang in the air, the calming sound of the waves as they crashed along the sandy shore, the lack of other people during the day while they were at work.
taehyung stepped onto the beach, breathing in deeply as a smile bloomed across his face. his eyes sparkled as he looked out across the ocean, the soon-to-be setting sun casting shades of red and pink across the water. his camera hung around his neck, bumping lightly against his chest as he walked.
he hummed to himself as he raked his gaze across the beach, looking for the best spot to take pictures. the group of rocks across the way seemed to call out to him, glistening in the sunlight. "ah." that was it. "found it."
taehyung made his way over, still humming soft songs as he set his backpack down away from the water. it was quiet as he pulled out the necessary supplies, setting up the tripod and sifting through his multitude of lenses to find the right ones.
soon enough he was ready, camera twisted onto the tripod and set up to look out across the wet sand. taehyung smiled brightly, setting his backpack behind the rocks so it wouldn't get wet while he worked. he had come up with a few ideas for his final project, but it would take a few hours to get all the materials he needed.
"okay, let's see..." he mumbled things to himself, about nothing in particular. "i think... yeah... that's nice."
the sounds of splashing in the distance briefly caught his attention, tearing his gaze away from his work to see what caused the noise. ripples fanned out across the water, disrupting the serene look for a moment. there wasn't anything he could see right off the bat, so he went back to his work.
