Hannah
Someone knocked on the door. My eyes slowly opened and looked around. I had fallen asleep. I tried not to make any sound when getting out of bed, in case it was a stranger at the door. I put a sweater on and looked through the peephole to see who was knocking. It was Max.
"I've texted you" he said when I opened the door. "You can't wear that. We're going to a nice restaurant with the other drivers." He walked in and sat down on my bed. He reached for his phone to texts someone.
"Who are you texting? And I didn't think I would go like this, I just woke up" I forgot that he's very alike our dad sometimes. After my shower I'd put on linnen pants and a white t-shirt, then I went to bed for a quick nap, which ended up being much longer than I set my alarm for.
"I know your jet lagged but you need to hurry, Daniel is waiting for us." Max stood up and walked to the wardrobe where I had hung up all of my clothes. "This works and... this shirt maybe?" He tossed my favorite black suit pants at me and picked out a very, low-cut, cropped top. I put it on while he waited outside of the hotel room. "Is it gonna be cold?" I asked while walking out the door. "Is that really the shirt I picked out? You don't have time to change so put this on." he said a little bit coldly and took off his jacket and put it on me. "It's probably going to be cold but you will have my jacket on for the evening." He clearly didn't like my revealing top.
Protective brother? Yes.
We met up with Daniel in the entrance hall, he looked nice. His curls were styled and he was dressed in all black. Around his neck a thin silver chain was showing. Daniel looked good, it's a shame he's so much older. And a friend of Max...
"Hey, you look good Max! Hannah, gorgeous as always" He grinned at Max probably proud of himself for teasing my brother. He knows that Max wouldn't really do something. "You're lucky I like you a little bit Daniel."
I followed the two men, or boys, into a taxi. The ride was short and we arrived at a large building, with several floors. When I stepped out of the taxi I started to get nervous. I totally forgot that I would see Pierre at dinner. I can't let Max know that we've met before, he would start asking questions about it. "Is every driver coming to this dinner?" I asked carefully trying to figure out what to do when we meet everyone.
"No, I heard that Pierre and Yuki's flight got here an hour ago so they probably won't come." What a relief. Daniel put his hand on my back, leading me into the elevator. Max already pushed the button so the elevator doors closed behind us. I'm a little bit claustrophobic so I stepped closer to Max so I could hold on to him. "Right, sorry Hannah, I forgot" He soothingly said and let me hold his arm while softly pulling me a little bit closer.
When we were little an incident happened that really affected me. I sometimes still have nightmares about it. Max was there when it happened, he knows about it. He says it didn't affect him but every time we are alone in a closed space together, he gets tense.
Daniel saw me holding on to Max. "Are you claustrophobic?" He asked kindly. "Yeah, a little bit" I said not wanting to elaborate. The only ones who know about the incident are my family. I don't even think Max's girlfriend Kelly knows. Daniel got the hint and started a conversation with Max. I focused on their voices to calm down a bit. The elevator ride felt really long but it really just lasted about 20 seconds. When the doors opened again we saw a crowd of people talking.
Daniel stepped out first and Max kept me by his side. The restaurant had a very high ceiling with decorations in every corner. Large windows stretched from the floor to the ceiling with a view over the city. A bar was placed in the middle of the restaurant and a server in black directed us to a large table in the back.
My eyes searched the table of drivers. I was hoping to see Mick but he wasn't there. We often played together when we were little, since we were family friends. Me, mom and Max have had contact with him and his family since forever.
It was surprisingly only one other girl there. She sat beside a younger guy with shorter brown hair. I think his name was Alex. Max had mentioned him before.
At the other end of the table a man caught my attention. He talked with another, little bit older driver who sat besides him. They were deep into a conversation. I watched him, his hand movements, his expression and his eyes. Those blue green eyes caught mine in a second. My face blushed. I gave him a quick weak smile and looked away, trying to avoid the embarrassing situation.
Max went around the table saying 'hi' to everyone while I took the seat besides Daniel. There was three seats left for us.
"Hannah this is Lando, Carlos and Lewis" Daniel pointed around, Lando sat in front of Max's seat and Carlos in front of me. Lewis stretched out his hand over the table for me to shake. "Hi, nice to meet you" he smiled while I took his hand.
The food we got looked amazing and everyone was talking, enjoying the dinner with each other. It's funny how much drama the papers tend to say there is between the drivers.
"You dating Daniel?" Carlos said sneaking a look at Daniel while taking a sip of his beer. "Um no. I'm Max's sister actually" I said a little bit surprised. Daniel was way deep into a conversation with the man who sat besides him to even hear the question.
"What!?" both Carlos and Lando said at the same time. Clearly a bit of alcohol in their bodies. "Why haven't we seen you around before?" Lando asked confused and my answer to that was It's a long story. Instead of telling them I asked if they had any siblings to bring the focus on them instead. I rather listen then talk.
During the whole conversation my eyes traveled to the man I caught eyes with before. He had brown, short, a bit wavy hair and when he smiled his dimples showed. His features complimented each other perfectly. Gosh, he was gorgeously hot. His eyes caught mine and I quickly looked down at my food. I could feel my face turning red, like before.
Why was I feeling sixteen again. Shy and nervous to talk to boys. That's not who I was anymore. For fuck sake, I'm usually the one who takes the first step when it comes to boys and initiating to do stuff.
"Max can you order me a drink please, I'm gonna go to the bathroom" I pushed my chair back and stood up. "No your not old enough" He stated. The closest of people around us heard him and looked at me confused. Lando and Carlos were shocked but it didn't last long. "Max I'm nineteen you ass, Daniel would you be so kind since my brother is not?" I smiled and batted my eyelashes way to much while giving him the puppy eyes so he would understand how desperate I was for that drink. He laughed which meant mission succeeded. "Sure kiddo".
"Thanks" I laughed and patted him on his shoulder.
