Prologue

Elizabeth couldn't believe what she had just been told.

"I'm so sorry, Elizabeth but do you recognize this?"

Detective Marcus Taggert says to her when he shows her the chain with the coin on it.

"Yes, it's Lucky's subway token. You found it. You found it downstairs, didn't you?"

"We found it on the body."

Elizabeth instantly starts crying only for her legs to give out on her and Sonny immediately catches her and holds her in his arms as she cries.

"Come on, sweetheart. Let's get you up. Come on. Let's go sit over here."

Elizabeth let's him lead her over to where she can sit down only for Lucky's aunt to run over and sit with her.

"Elizabeth! Are you alright? Sweetheart, I'm so sorry. Listen, if there's anything that you need. Anything at all. Just call me anytime day or night and I'll be there for you."

Elizabeth smiles at him as she lets herself calm down while they are sitting down and she has her head resting against his shoulder.

"Thank you, Sonny for everything your doing. I don't know what I would have done. If you weren't in my life."

Sonny smiles hearing her words before he gently wraps his arm around her.

"You're never going to have to find out. Because starting right now we're going to get to be spend a lot more time together. How do you feel about staying at the penthouse with me?"

Elizabeth looks at him giving him a small smile before she replies back.

"Thank you, Sonny but I would just be in the way."

Sonny looks at her as he gently reaches out so he can cup her face with both of his hands so she will look into his eyes big brown chocolate eyes.

"Elizabeth, look at me. You will never ever be in my way or a burden. I would love the idea of us getting to spend time together talking about how our day went while talking about places that you would want to go to or you could tell me about a famous artist that you learned about and I would see how excited you would get. I really hope that you don't give up on that dream. If you ever need anything. Anything at all you have to do is call me. Anytime."

Sonny replies back to her smiling as he gently runs his hands up and down her shoulders.

"Thank you for always being so good to me."

Elizabeth says as she stares into his eyes before she rests her head on his shoulder.

"Anytime, sweetheart. I'm always going to be here for you. While we're on the subject. There are going to be times when I'm going to have go out of town and be away for a while but you don't have to worry Francis is going to be guarding you from now on and especially whenever I go out of town. No ditching him especially when I'm out of town. I don't know what I'd do if anything ever happened to you. You can always call me and I'll always come and get you. Always. Come on, let's get home."

Sonny replies back to Elizabeth as he takes her into his arms and carries her towards the limousine.
