Chapter 7 - Crazy Little Thing Called Love

Amelia POV

I wake up and Y/N has gone. I didn't even hear them get up or leave. Why do I feel sad that I didn't wake up with them next to me. I roll out of the bed and gather my thoughts before heading out of the room and towards the nurses station to grab my tablet. I slept really well, better than I have in a while, even if it was a nap in the on-call room.

As I walk to the nurses station, I see Y/N out of the corner of my eye.

"Hello Dr Shepherd" They smile at me. I can't help but smile back, trying my best to hide it. They come up beside me "Did you sleep well?"

"Yes I did thank you"

They come up and whisper in my ear "You may want to fix your hair" They smirk at me.

Oh shit, I didn't sort my hair out after sleeping. I'm just glad I didn't walk far and that Y/N pointed it out before I walked around the hospital with crazy bed-head. At least they had the decency to tell me instead of letting me look like a fool in front of my other colleagues.

"Thank you Y/L/N. How about you, did you have a nice nap after your surgery earlier?"

"I did thank you very much. I've been and checked on him and he seems to be doing very well. All neuro exams came back good so he will recover well if all things go accordingly"

"That is good to hear. I would like to see you in action some time. Seeing as you have been here a few days and I haven't seen you when doing your examining patients and doing surgeries. Would you mind me scrubbing in with you when you are next in the OR"

"Yeah, of course. I'd be happy to have you in the OR with me anytime. I have to go but it will be nice to see how you rate my performance in the OR. See you later" They walk away with a smirk on their face. Did they really just say that whilst we are working? Smooth, very smooth Y/N. I can feel a smiles forming across my face. Best get back to work for the rest of my shift.

Y/N POV

I walked away from Amelia to continue working for the rest of my shift and check on the rest of my patients. I'm just surprised Amelia didn't call me back for the comment I made. Oh well, guess I won that conversation. I can't help but smirk that she even let me get away with making that comment.

I check on the rest of my patients in the ICU and on the general wards where some have been brought in. My next surgery is tomorrow morning. Not that I'm complaining but morning surgeries aren't my favourite. I'd rather have the morning to prepare for the surgery with my resident that I have for the day or week and make sure that everyone who is going to be in the OR with me understands what is going to be done and who is going to do what. The key to success in an OR is preparation and organisation.

I keep going thinking about games night with Amelia and the others at her house. I really hope it just ends up being games and maybe a few drinks. I am not drinking after what happened last time. I need to stay sober and have a good night with all the other doctors around to have a good time. I haven't had a games night in a long while. I can't wait to see what it has to bring. Let's just hope nothing happens with having to take clothes off. I am not ready for that.

I head to one of the scan rooms to check over all the scans that I need to see ready for tomorrow's surgery. I need to let Amelia know that I have this one planned if she wants to join me on it. I want this surgery to go as smooth as possible. I hate things not going to plan. The scans don't seem to have changed at all which is good. That means I don't have to change my plan of how I intend to complete the surgery. I want to make sure that Amelia thinks I am competent of doing my job correctly. The last thing I want is to be searching for a new hospital to work at. I am actually enjoying it here. I feel at home already.
