Parties.

Cody doesn't mind them. He used to love them. Hanging out with his friends, being young and carefree. But now, they're just not the same.

"What?" he hears Stiles ask as the three of them walk along the sidewalk, heading towards the house where the party's already raging.

Scott quirks an eyebrow, "What, what do you mean, 'what'?"

"I mean 'what,' and you know what. That look you guys were giving," Stiles points out.

Cody shrugs, shoving his hands in the pockets of his jeans. "I didn't give a look."

"Oh, there was a distinct look, Cody. The look that says the last thing you feel like doing right now is going to a party."

Scott sighs, "It just seems weird going to a different high school's party," Scott admits, shrugging.

Stiles rolls his eyes dramatically. "Wh - Would you - God, one drink, all right? You'll be fine. I went to nursery school with this girl, okay? Her name's Heather and she promised to introduce us to all of her friends. So tonight, no Allison, no Lydia. Tonight, we're moving on." Stiles insists, holding out his hands to look at the two in front of him.

"But I don't wanna move on," Cody frowns, crossing his arms over his chest.

Stiles gives him a look of disbelief, scoffing at the statement. "Wh - No, come on. Being single is where all the fun is. And with a face like that, believe me, you are going to have fun. Right, Scott?"

Scott lets out a defeated exhale. "I guess."

Cody sighs, "Alright, fine. Moving on," he insists.

Stiles nods in unison, "Onward and upward," he says, pointing up to the sky, to which Scott and Cody exchange looks and a small laugh.

Scott starts to roll his shoulders back. "Let's do this." The two of them smack each other's hands before continuing to walk. They walk up the steps, a few feet before the front door. "How's my breath smell?" Scott asks nervously, turning to Stiles.

"Dude, you're gross. I'm not smelling your breath," Stiles replies, a scrunched look on his face.

"Do you have any gum?"

"No. No gum. You're fine," he assures him.

"Can you at least tell me what kind of party this is?" Scott pleads just as Stiles swings open the front door.

"It's my birthday!" they hear a girl yell, followed by cheering as the partygoers raise their red solo cups in the air.

"Birthday party," Cody answers, only to annoy Scott, smiling as he earns an unimpressed look from him. They look around, taking in the scene of the party. There are a good number of people there, everyone dancing to the music with their drinks in hand.

"Stiles, hi!" Heather exclaims as she walks up to them, someone who appears to be a friend of hers following closely behind.

Stiles grins, "Hey! There's the birthday gir—" Stiles is cut off when the blonde girl kisses him, his entire body freezing.

Scott exchanges amused glances with Cody, his eyebrows practically up to his hairline.

The girl moves back, leaving Stiles standing there in complete shock, which no one seems to notice.

"So glad you made it." Heather tells him, giving him a flirtatious smile.

"Me too," is all he manages to squeak out, chuckling nervously.

"Come downstairs with me and help me pick out a bottle of wine?"

"Yes," Stiles agrees, looking back at the two boys excitedly while Heather pulls him away.
