The rush of adrenaline.
A feeling that I usually feel when I'm running for my life, or away from my problems.
It's a feeling that is usually associated with fear and anxiety, but as of right now, I don't feel that way.
Not at all.
Pushing my wet hair back aggressively, I charged towards the nearest roof-drop so I could go through this experience even better.
It's a stormy night in New York, and exactly as what a stormy night is, it was raining really hard.
The droplets from this natural phenomena felt like needless to my skin, and in an exaggerated way, people would say that I would get hypothermia If I don't get the heck out of here right now.
Though, as uncomfortable as I am, I couldn't find the energy to point out my care.
After a very long time, I feel free. And freedom is something that I'm not really that familiar with.
As that thought rolled into my mind like a fast car on a race, the momentum of my speed increased even more.
God, running has never felt so good.
Making my way to where the water is falling extremely great, I closed my eyes, knowing that this is the perfect opportunity to relax.
As the water run down over me like crazy, I couldn't help but wonder; what if every night was like this?
No stress, no problem, just a simple way to live an undisturbed life even if it's just for a few hours.
As I run around and shouted nonsense stuff out of total triumphant, a loud yell broke me out of my trance.
And as I turned my head back and forth to look at this person, my eyes landed on an unfamiliar man.
But I'm sure it was a man, nonetheless.
"Having fun?" He hollered for the second time.
He was standing just a few meters away from me and just like how I was, he was drenched as well.
His white shirt, his lower clothing along with his Nike shoes were all wet.
He was waving at me from the distance and I could also see that his wet hair was falling into his eyes through the dim lights.
I didn't even noticed that I was just standing there frozen, starring at him until he said something again and started walking towards me.
"I hope I didn't scared you," He said as the rain got heavier and heavier above us.
Growing up always on the run for my life, I always see strangers as a threat.
I mean— what are the odds of a man twice my size walking into the dark backstreets of New York being a serial killer?
And what are the odds of me, a petite twenty-two year old girl, surviving if he ever attempted something?
With that in mind, I immediately acted upon instinct.
"What do you want?" The words left my lungs like a growl.
I was obviously scared and since I've been under the rain for god knows how long, my voice came out shakily.
"Anything you'd like." He grinned as he continued to walk towards me.
Half of me wanted to run away and ditch this man, but the other half of me couldn't bring my legs to take a step forward.
