"ROME? You are going to university in Rome? no darling no" you Mum screamed at you as you were packing your cases.
"Why not? I need to explore" you bluntly replied, not looking at her face because you knew she would be heartbroken about this revelation.
"But you have your whole life ahead of you to explore love, I don't want to miss you" you turned as you saw her bottom lip quiver as you rushed to her side.
"But mum, I need to do this for myself. I want to do it, besides Paulo is moving to Rome. What harm can there be out there? please just let me do this. You and dad can visit me all the time . I will visit you?" you tried you best to reassure her.
"Urgh, you are growing up too fast and I want it to stop" she sighed, gently stroking your hair.
"Sorry Mum" you laughed as she finished packing your case for you.
"Are you sure this is enough?" Mum asked you as you nodded.
"Yeah, I will just go and get some stuff if I need it. Anyway Paulo will help too if he needs too. I know what I'm doing Mum, I will be okay. You need to stop fussing" you shrugged.
"Sorry love, but you are my last child to leave the nest. You are leaving later than I wanted, but I am happy" She smiled as a small tear escaped from her eye.
"Oh Mum, stop crying. You can stay with me all the time in my room if you like. We can explore Rome I promise" you pulled her in for yet another cuddle.
"You are good to me love" she muttered in between small sops.
"Aww, love you. Now let's get dad to put these in the car and off we go I suppose" you shrugged as you nervously bit your lip.
Realising this was really happening.
