Give me a reason why people always go back to the painful and beautiful past, when 'past' clearly suggests that it already happened and cannot be repeated again. What's the point of hurting oneself a little more every single time the mind rewinds back the memories that have long been over? Or what is it that makes reviewing the pleasant memoirs worth doing? Why can't the brain have the option erase to wash away all the hurtful past and move on to the future?Because no matter what you do, it keeps on automatically rushing back to you.
Maybe because it reminds us that somehow, at some time in our lives, everything was perfect or if not, everything was an indescribable chaos, but still, we have survived.
And until now, we remember.

"Areum!"
She jolted when he surprised her by quickly poking her side, sending unwanted tickles to her spine.
"Stop doing that Kim Jongin!" She yelled at him as her fingers knotted his ears, twisting it as revenge. "Awww okay okay! Stop!" Her hand set him free as his ear throbbed with pain.
"Ouch. Geez, you're too strong." He wiggled his hair and massaged his ear. Throwing his head back, he closed his eyes in pain with hands stilled on his hips.
She felt a bit guilty, so she went nearer to him and checked his ear with eyes narrowed into slits. "Does it really hurt?" her voice sounded of fear and hidden anxiety.
"Awww! Ouchh!" Kai flinched at her touch. "I think you twisted it too much." His weak voice added more load to her brimming guilt. She started soothing him, her chest heaving up and down in terror. She was nearly crying, not knowing what to do.
"Shhh...." Her blurry eyes got a view of his warm hand carefully clasping hers.
"It won't hurt anymore..."
She raised her head up to meet his eyes.
"But my heart would hurt..." He placed her hand on his chest, right where the powerful beating organ is. "if you break it."
Her brows furrowed, a sign that she didn't get his idea.
"How can you be so slow?" Kai muttered, looking away. He ruffled her flowing soft black hair as he turned his gaze again at her.
"Will you be my girlfriend?"
Her sorrowful eyes slowly reflected gladness, lips upturned. "Yes..." Her voice was shaky like that of a guitar strummed anxiously. On that note, Kai beamed with so much happiness as if he has already reached Nirvana.
"Yes? YES!" He jumped with joy as he threw a punch in the air stronger than any boxing champion could. His sparkling eyes met hers as he engulfed her in his loving arms, not planning to let her go.

Life is full of chances - some taken, some missed. The ones you take are the ones you get to see, feel, and experience. Those you miss, or choose to leave for something you deem better, would either be taken away from you or rot by themselves in a dark room filled with regrets and things taken for granted. The life you breathe is the path you take or what fate carelessly throws at you. At times you have the choice, at times you cannot do anything although your mouth's unzipped. Yep, fate throws balls of thingamajigs to you, either pain or pleasure, blight or delight, damage or homage, and it's up to you to catch them.
Song Areum took her chances. She caught them with her bare hands, bravely clasping onto them, holding on to their surface like her life depends on them. And yes it did.
