I was able to complete a full month without seeing (Y/N). I kept myself motivated by telling myself that if I complete my fifth year successfully, I'll achieve my most wanted dream. As long as I maintained my position in the top 10 in all of my classes, I was still stable. I performed my prefect duties properly by conducting night patrols at the appropriate hour and managing to apprehend some students who were sneaking away in the middle of the night.

While I would relax in my dorm with my buddies, Nyx would occasionally start to visit my window. Fortunately for me, my pals adored her even if they were unaware of whose owl she was.

Although I was unable to understand her wubs, I had the impression that Nyx was a letter of encouragement from (Y/N) to me. I grinned at myself as I sat on my bed holding Nyx in my hand and we both stared at each other, having a private discussion.

"Do you think (Y/N) misses me dearly?" I asked, and the owl raised her head.

"Wub wub wub wub wub wub."

I believe that even though I'm succeeding in my studies and motivation, people might still think I'm insane for chatting with an owl. But I don't mind being referred to as insane as long as it's (Y/N)'s owl.

"Really? How much?"

"Wuuuuuuuuuuuub."

I smile at that, imagining Nyx saying 'she misses you a looooooot'.

Just when I was about to say something, I hear a knock on the door. "Ced? You there, mate?" I hear Malcolm's voice through it.

"Yeah- just wait a minute!" I say out loud, walking towards the window with Nyx still mount in my hand. I opened the window wider and looked at the owl.

"You better get going, girl," I whisper, and to my surprise, she understood and flew away. After that, I quickly closed the window and tidied myself before heading to the door.

As soon as I opened the door, I see Malcolm with an extended grin. I arched an eyebrow at this until he said, "Roger's outside our common room- he wants to share the news with you!"

Must be about their match with the Slytherins, I thought. I nod at his statement and eventually head out, reaching outside of our common room and seeing Roger along with his team chatting with big smiles on their faces.

"Ced, we won against the Slytherins!" Roger exclaimed and the others cheered, jumping around as they pulled me into their group hug.

I grin as I hear the news. "Congratulations, guys!" I cheer along with them.

Roger invited me and my team to celebrate their victory at the great hall. I gladly accepted it and as we were all there, chatting and celebrating, Cho sat next to me. I didn't try to engage in a conversation with her because I just didn't feel like it, but whenever she tries to do anything, her teammate that sat beside her would push her in a joking matter so that our arms would just bump into each other.

As the celebration went on, I began to feel a little uncomfortable. Cho was getting closer and closer to me, her hand lingering on my arm for longer than necessary. I could feel myself tensing up, unsure how to react.

Finally, as Cho leaned in a little too close, I managed to summon the courage to gently push her back. "Cho, you're amazing, and I'm flattered, but I'm not really up for you to continue to step up your game," I said, trying to be as kind as possible.

She pulls back, and I felt bad when she still smiled at me. "Oh, sorry, Ced..." Cho says with a hint of sadness in her voice.

Despite my attempt to gently tell Cho that I wasn't interested in pursuing anything, she continued to inch closer to me slowly yet again. Her hand was now resting on my thigh, and I could feel my discomfort rising.
