Jumping on the train back to Hogwarts was bittersweet. As exciting as it is being back, I'm beginning to doubt whether or not I'm going to get my hands on this Dark Arts credit like I've been needing to. They reassure me year after year that the professor will stay, but I'll believe it when I see it.
I sat down in the third compartment and watched familiar faces pass. I recognized people from Botany, Potions, Literature, Flying, and even my second year Artistic classes. I was extra pleased when Camilla swung around the doorframe and plopped herself harshly against the seat across from me. She looked... weirdly energetic.
"Have you seen him?" She asked, leaning forward.
"Who? Did someone glow up?"
"No, dude," she paused, seeming disgruntled. "The Dark Arts teacher. He used to go to school here, and the teachers seem so snide but he's way cuter than that pompous jerk we had before."
I squinted at her. She's batted her eyes at a good couple of guys, so I wasn't holding my breath. It didn't matter, but maybe it would make the next two semesters go by a little faster. I couldn't let it cloud my psyche, though. This year matters more than any years previous.
The train was finally set in motion and one of the train hands came by to close all of the doors and ensure everyone was safely inside a compartment. Camilla and I were alone, and that was perfect. All we had to do now was get in our before-school gossip and watch the scenery pass.

The train soon came to it's normal soft halt, and Camilla sprung from the seat to grab the door for me. Her platonic chivalry was cute, but at certain points it gets in the way... Especially while I tried fitting my luggage through the door whilst she held it open with her body.
Stepping off the edge and onto the platform, I could feel the eyes in the back of my head and Camilla bumping into me from behind to sneak a, "Don't look behind you, she's here," as a warning. I knew it was Winter, back again from her manor of ice and broken dreams in northern Norway. I'm surprised she wasn't home-schooled with private professors coming in at her will to teach her whatever she wished. She seemed like the type...
Camilla nudged me again, and I finally realized how harshly I had been side-eyeing the evil entity from over my shoulder. It wouldn't matter whether or not Winter noticed, but I almost hoped she did.
Whatever... I kicked my feet up those stairs with a confidence that would be noticeable to her. Maybe she'd target me less if she knew I wouldn't take it like I used to. Camilla even took note and held her head high, arm draped lazily around my shoulder.
We hiked the bridge and entered the gates with a new excitement. The dorms had been slightly renovated due to the large quantity of witches and wizards coming in this year, so the rooms had to be massive. Camilla and I both wanted to be the first there, and by the looks of it, we would be.
Walking through the common room entrance, we nearly dropped our bags. It was massive with detailed, vaulted ceilings. The space in the room had doubled since we last saw it. Our first instinct was to run up the stairs and to the left, straight into the girls dorm room. Camilla whirled the door open and we both gasped. Shimmering across the ceiling was the same visual effect used in the dining hall. It was incredible, and all of the beds were spread evenly with ample room for everyone. The walls were rich in color too, and everything looked incredibly cozy. The architects truly outdid themselves, and we were quick to appreciate it as we leapt into our desired beds and sprawled out happily.
"This... this makes my year, already. I'm ready to graduate, because these beds just taught me all I need to know," Camilla dramatically explained, worming her way into the covers as she kicked her bag off of the side of the bed.
I couldn't agree more. This was surely a nice start, but the next hurdle to tackle would be the well-known sorting ceremony and all of the lovely hour-long lectures that come with it...
[A.N. Sorry this is short and pretty late, but it was a busy day! Hopefully this isn't too wordy or anything, but I'm already enjoying myself. Expect more for sure. ;^)]
