All the guards were retreating to the palace entrances.
As I was approaching the place, I see that the window through which I entered last time was still open.
As you can imagine, the peasants were at the forefront, but they were not brave enough to not wait for those with firearms.
I climbed the stairs and went along the cornice, people were so busy forcing their way in that nobody followed me.
Upon seeing the interior, I noticed something strange, so I carefully descended and upon closer inspection, I saw that the place was full of traps for bears.
Lucky for me, I have good eyesight, even though I didn't get a lamp.
I exit through the hallway and find a purple guard running in the opposite direction of the entrance.
When he sees me, he stops abruptly and stares at me without knowing what to do, it seemed like the guard was afraid of me.
"What are you looking for?" I say in a way that seemed more like a threat.
"Uh... I... I just want to hide. I didn't join for this!"
"Listen to me, if you really give up, don't get in my way. If you find other guards, tell them that if they stay together and I find them again, I'll order the rest to spare their lives. Understand?"
"Yes, understood."
The guard continues running, turning his head to look back in case someone is following him.
The rest of the hallways, even the illuminated ones, were empty, it seemed that most of them were at the main entrances.
I checked the second floor, there was nothing, the table was empty, without any trace of the women he had.
I went to the third floor and saw the merciful one in the distance.
He was still, and I walked towards him.
"I was wrong, you were like that man I remembered, I should have killed you when I had the chance." I hear from the king.
He enters a room and I follow him inside.
I see a large red carpet with several columns on either side of the room, and at the end there is a throne adorned with the same colors as his clothing. The place is mostly empty.
I was remaining silent, but he still going with his monologue.
"It's not that I didn't suspect or even know what you were going to do, but let's say that... A man admits defeat, I don't cause unnecessary harm. Can you say the same about yourself?"
I draw my sword without saying a word.
"Do people know you well? Or better yet, do you know yourself?"
I stay still at a reasonable distance.
"What makes you think you have what it takes to believe that you are of the ruling class? Didn't they teach you humility?"
"To be honest with you, at no point did I say that I would be better or worse than you, I just seek to dethrone you and become king." I said.
The king's eyes open wide.
"You are worse than I expected, I didn't think I was so wrong about you! I thought you were one of those ignorant fools who think it's easy to be king. I have several questions to ask you now."
"Why should I answer them?"
"I don't know, when you asked questions, did anyone refuse? Or did you stop when we told you to stop sticking your nose where it doesn't belong?!"
