You abruptly get up when the sound of Carmen yelling enters your room. You rush to her room, banging the door open. Carmen was sprawled on her bed, squirming and sweating with anxiety in her sleep.
"Carmen? Wake up, it's just a nightmare," you say, making your way to the side of her bed, trying to shake her awake.
"The coat was empty, wasn't it?!" Carmen yells, sitting upright, her eyes springing open. Just then, her phone starts ringing and you pick it up, phone in one hand and your other hand soothing Carmen.
"Hey Player," you say, putting the phone on speaker mode.
"Mornin' (y/n). I'm guessing Carmen woke you up with that dream again, didn't she," Player replies.
"Yup, but I don't mind, I just wish they would stop plaguing her," you sigh. Carmen turns to you and slouches.
"I'm sorry but, I just can't stop thinking about it, and calling it a 'dream' makes it sound like make-believe, Player. This actually happened," she says. You smile and pat her back, getting off the bed.
"For the best, right, Red? I mean, if you'd actually aced crime school, you might be stealing for VILE instead of from them," Player says.
"For the Villains International League of Evil? Highly doubt that," Carmen replies, taking the phone from the nightstand where you left it.
"I still don't understand why that dumbass's final still bothers you, I mean, you're out here kicking ass and that proves that you were totally meant to pass," you say.
"I don't know... Maybe because I never got to see where the dollar bill was hiding when the exam was over. I was the best pickpocket in Stealth 101. Way better than Tigress. Guess I just feel like I still have something to prove," Carmen sighs, getting up and walking to the giant window beside the bed.
"Don't worry, you're the best pickpocket I know," you say, grinning. Carmen laughs and looks out the window.
"Mm, what a view..." she says. The buildings outside were blanketed with a thick fog, covering most of what would've been visible.
"For real," you reply.
"They don't call San Francisco, California "Fog City" for nothing. The fog blows in so often that the locals gave it a name: Karl," Player explains.
"But when the fog lifts, what a view. The Golden Gate Bridge towers 746 feet above the bay. It's one of the city's iconic landmarks, along with cable cars, the oldest and largest Chinatown in America, and "The Rock": Alcatraz Island, home of the famous prison," Carmen says.
"Too bad it hasn't been used to jail criminals since 1963. Since VILE loves hanging out on islands, it would've been the perfect place to lock them up" Player says.
"Until that day comes, I'm happy to keep stealing their money to spend on worthwhile causes, like the Children's Foundation charity auction tonight. A foggy night seems like perfect trench coat weather. But I really should dress for the occasion," Carmen says, walking up to the cupboard and picking out a red, strapless, bodycon dress and throwing it onto the bed. You squeal in excitement and rush to your bedroom, throwing out possible outfits to wear, Carmen chuckling behind you.

"Going once... going twice... sold for $78,000 to the generous lady in red," the auctioneer announces.
"Holy shitttt I can't believe you actually bought itt!" you whisper yell, squeezing Carmen's arm.
"Yea, seriously, you really bought the car from Rogue Vendetta 5? Who knew you were into action flicks?" Player says.
