Rumors, huh? / A ruikasa ff

The talk of the school

Tsukasa POV:

I woke up to the smell of scrambled eggs. 'Is that Saki? No wait, I'm in Rui's bed!! I forgot he took me to his house because I passed out on him'  I think as I stand up. I feel so much better, I should go thank Rui

I walk downstairs to see Rui in his school uniform, setting out plates of scrambled eggs on a dining table. "Oh, Kasa! Good morning, I made breakfast." Rui said, waving his hand as a signal for me to go to the dining table. "You're still using that nickname from yesterday?" I ask, a small laugh escaping my mouth at the end of my sentence. "Well you didn't say you hated it, I can stop using if if you want though." Rui said. He seemed kinda, sad? "No no, I thought it was cute." I replied while laughing with reassurance.

After getting ready the two of us headed out. Today was Thursday, so we still had school. Rui locked his front door behind us as we started our walk to school. "Hey Rui, do you think we're gonna get detention for leaving school without informing the teachers?" I ask. "Hmm, probably. But hey, it's kinda normal at this point, no?" He replied with that cat-like smirk on his face.

We continued our walk, initiating small conversations like that until we approached the school like normal. But I sensed something was off. It was unusually quiet. I hold my finger up infront of Rui as a signal to stop talking. He does so, and looks foward with me.

The reason everything was so quiet was because everyone was staring at us.

"Rui, what the fuck did you do while I was passed out!?" I whispered as we walked into the school. Everyone was exchanging looks and whispers as we walked through the hallways. "I may or may not have carried you bridal style out the school, but I'm sure it wasn't that big of a deal!" He replied, trying to sound confident but I could tell he was also worried. Both of us were deep in thought until a student snapped us out of it.

"Hey guys look, its 'Ruikasa'!" A student yelled. People started taking pictures and such. "Wow, Kamiyama High's first gay couple." Another student shared. What on earth were they talking about?? I opened up my phone and Rui peered over my shoulder to get a glimpse too. My eyes flew wide open when I saw. We were all over social media. Apparently, everybody thought we were a gay couple!!

3rd person POV:

Rui and Tsukasa stared at Tsukasa's phone in awe. Everybody thought they were together!

Rui flushed a deep red at the thought of this. He's used to being the center of attention, but not like this. Never has he ever had a relationship crisis, especially not publicly. Unable to act upon his feelings, he ran. He ran and ran and ran until he reached the boys bathroom. He locked himself in a stall before burying his head in his hands. Feeling the heat radiating off of him. He knew if he stayed out there in the halls of the school he would accidentally admit something to Tsukasa, he just knew it

Little did he know, leaving Tsukasa in the dust, alone, was one of the worst things he could have possibly done

Tsukasa panicked. He didn't know what to do. Was Rui upset? Overwhelmed? Mad? The possibilities were endless. But Tsukasa came to one conclusion

It was all his fault

If he hadn't got sick, Rui wouldn't have had to carry him, and take care of him, and accidentally cause a really big rumor. So Tsukasa did exactly as Rui did. He ran. But instead of the bathrooms, he ran to the rooftop. He was so incredibly upset that he might have hurt his friend. The even worse part was that Tsukasa loved Rui. He really did. And the thought of hurting his loved one absolutely destryoed him mentally. He cried. He cried while desperately breathing, trying to grab air. It was getting hard to breathe as sobs escaped his throat.

Bundled in the corner of the rooftop, he cried. He panicked. He sobbed. The only thing he wanted was to be comforted. To be comforted by Rui.

Rui POV:

I finally cooled down from...whatever that was. But it was just now did I realized what happened. 'I totally just left Tsukasa back there! I better go find him'  I thought before getting up and unlocking the stall door.

I asked some students where Tsukasa went, and they pointed me to the rooftop. I wonder why he went there...

I slowly opened the rooftop door. The first thing I heard were muffled sobs. Who on eartn is crying up here!? I ran to the source of the sound, and to my suprise (and demise) it was Tsukasa..!

"Tsukasa!? Whats wrong?" I asked, in the softest voice possible. But it was quite hard to maintain the soft voice, and you could hear the worry in my voice. I heard a sniffle come from the poor boy before he responded in a low voice, "Rui, I-Im so sorry.." Whats he apologizing for? "Kasa, why are you apologizing? You've done nothing wrong, atleast to my knowledge" I replied, looking at him with worry.

3rd person POV:

"You ran away earlier, and I'm worried I upset you. I just wi-" Tsukasa started before he was cut off with a hug. Rui had hugged him dearly while Tsukasa cried on his shoulder. They sat like this for a few minutes in comfortable silence.

"Kasa, you've done nothing wrong. I-I ran away because I didn't know how to comprehend my feelings. The truth is...I-..." Rui started before blushing quite a bit. Tsukasa noticed and gave a weak smile, as to show his amusement. He stopped when noticing Rui opening his mouth to finish the sentence he started

"The truth is..I really like you. Infact, I love you. And when I heard the rumors of us dating, I just...I just didn't know how to handle how I felt. So I ran away" Rui stated, embarassed. Tsukasa looked at him with a look of relief on his face. Although, Rui didn't notice. Instead, he started standing up.

"Well I don't want to make this any more awkward. I'm just gonna g-" He was cut off by Tsukasa tugging the sleeve of his arm. Rui's eyes widened in suprise, before he sat back down.

"Rui...I-I love you too. I was so worried that you ran away because you were upset by the rumors." Tsukasa laughed in relief, and Rui joined him. They hugged eachother tightly before Rui gently grabbed Tsukasa's chin, and pointed it toward his face. Rui muttered a quick "May I?" With the same cat-like smirk on his face as always. Tsukasa replied with a simple "Of course" And before you knew it, the boys were kissing. Tsukasa was the first to part. He looked Rui in the eyes and smiled. "Does this mean the rumors are true now?" He giggled. Rui smiled and replied with "Yes, yes it does"
