There are only a thousand here, the others are maneuvering their way to the other regions just like a suspected. It's show time."
Elaina leaps from a mountain peak with half her warriors behind her and the other half with Bryant. She somehow had an electrified whip in hand taking down one troll in one blow and landing on top of him. Many of the opposing side send their attacks her way, but she was gone in an instant.
Elaina quickly dispatched them one by one with over a hundred dead by her alone. The others were diminishing their forces quickly with infinity arrows. The orc general came for her swinging his axe, she caught the bladed end in her hand snapping it in half. She spin kicked him simultaneously sending blood and his tusks in the air.
Before he could recover she sent one blow to the center of his chest. The light in his eyes faded quickly. There were no more than two hundred left and with a blink of my eyes watching this unfold, only her warriors remained standing.
I watched battle after battle, each one taking its toll on Elaina. The very last battle I could see her hair had grown to shoulder length as she looked off into the distance, perched on a mountain peak. Her mind clearly weighing heavy. Her parents were present behind her.
"Elaina, Sweetheart, we will get the children. Don't think for a second you can't do this, you already have."
"Mom, I don't want to lose you or anyone else today."
"Sweetheart, if I die, then it is my time to die. I've lived hundreds of years already. I would be leaving the throne to the most worthy hands."
Elaina and the rest of her flyers were in the air instantly from the mountain peak. They all landed directly in front of the sanctuary gates that housed the Tree of Life. The warlocks did not hesitate to open fire upon my mate and her warriors.
Her wings arched out creating a protective shield. Delilah and several others were climbing higher into the sky with an enormous sized sunstone. Elaina began to speak to her brother, "Once the stone aligns with the sun, I will be hit with an exorbitant amount of energy. When that happens I need you to be ready with the others to shift."
Titus shifted in his hybrid form battling trolls, Bryant striking enemies down as they piled at his feet. A wraith knocked Delilah out of the sky battling with Yana. Elaina moved at a blink of an eye catching her mother high in the sky. She launched her higher into the air above the clouds, giving Yana enough time to reach her.
I saw her back on the ground helping her father attempting to decimate the opposing sides forces. Delilah clearly made it as a strong pulse of light hit Elaina, sending jolts of energy to everyone on their side. Everyone was shifted, those who were already shifted were clearly enhanced by whatever she did. Elaina shifted into what can only be described as an extremely large furless Lycan, but not a Lycan at the same time. She looked like the embodiment of Sekhmet wielding khopesh swords.
The numbers of the enemy dwindled at an accelerated pace. Elaina was running to the imprisoned children, only to be met by one of the last generals using one of the younglings as a shield. "Stay back you little bitch or I'll end this youngling with the rest of them!" Elaina put away her swords, raising her hands up as a sign of appeasement and moved her index finger ever so slightly, you could have missed it. The children were domed over in an opaque shield. the general briefly turned to see his advantage was neutralized. "I warned you, now he will die!" Elaina screamed loudly, "Noooo!"
The general deeply slashed the child's neck with blood spurting out. Elaina's eyes became white and she glowed brighter than the sun. She said she would lose none that day and failed. A horrific roar left her and the general was left shaking and clearly pissing his pants, literally. She engulfed him as his blood curdling screams echoed.
Elaina clutched the little boy in her hands dropping to her knees, yelling out with the force of an earthquake. Energy shot out of my mate's body in every direction of the realm. Her sobbing was heart breaking. A little voice came from her arms, "What happened? Am I dead?" Elaina let out a gasp and looked down to see the child was alive. She hugged him tighter and began reciting words in an ancient tongue I've never heard before. Dark tendrils seeped into Elaina. "None of you deserve to live with the nightmares or pain."
Elaina had already visibly took on the pain and suffering of everyone in addition to her own. Elaina carried the burden with no one's knowledge. What I saw after was recovery and rebuilding. The look in her eyes was never quit the same, even though she brought back many from death, she wasn't able to bring them all back. There were sporadic moments shown of her eating robotically, panic attacks and violent outbursts. These images played out, until she couldn't bear it any longer.
My mate suffered in ways I couldn't even imagine. Elaina was stronger than anyone I've ever known or read about. Yet she was so fragile at the same time. The weight of everything and everyone's expectations is such a heavy burden. Here I was just adding to it, I should have been lessening her already high magnitude of responsibility.
How she is even standing and functioning is beyond me. All this time so many assumed this bloodline were just aristocratic fluffs. The obligation this family took on would crush the average supe. My respect for my mate was only amplified from what I just had witnessed. I cannot fail as my father had done with my mother and my siblings.
