Hawthorn High. A school where a lot of kids went missing. Some of those kids survived, some of them didn't. But out of the thousands of kids that went to that high school, only ten are left. And two of those ten are two boys named Leonardo Hamato and Zane Ruhl. 

Zane and Leo were best friends. Have been since they were born. Leo was the person who could make any room lighter, and Zane... Well he could make it dimmer than it was. The school day ended and they went home. One day, they came home without their parents being there. 

They both turned on the news and saw what happened to their parents... 

"Breaking news, a car accident has happened near M-52. Two cars, no one survived." 

They couldn't believe it... Their parent's died because of each other...

The only place they had left to stay was their aunt and uncle's house Leo was depressed, and Zane, well... Wasn't depressed. They went to their aunt and uncle's place and they never knew that their relatives would have done this...

Their relatives would beat them because they thought they killed them...

"You stupid piece of shit!" "Why did you fucking kill them!?"

Leo: I didn't deserve this! I tried to tell them that I didn't do anything!? But they just won't listen! I've tried to do EVERYTHING to tell them that I didn't kill them...

Zane: I know but, they don't get it. They're stupid ass idiots. I know you don't want me to ask this but... How bad are they, beating you?..

Leo: They're not beating me THAT bad, they just keep hitting me with a newspaper across the head and telling me to do stuff that I don't wanna do.

Zane: What kind of stuff?..

Leo: Nothing like raping or something sexual!? Just like "get me a beer". Stuff like that. How bad are they beating you?..

Zane: Oh, not bad at all. Just with the newspaper. But we need to do something about this. We can't just let our relatives beating the shit out of us!?!

Leo: I know but... What are we gonna do?

Zane: We can run the fuck away.

Leo: Run away?! What if our relatives call the police!?

Zane: Then let them call the police! I don't fucking care about them! We deserve freedom! Not these pieces of shit abusing the fuck out of us!!!

Leo: But where are we gonna run away to?

Zane: Wherever the fuck we want!! That's the greatest thing about running away!

Leo: When are we gonna run away?

Zane: Tonight, start packing.

Leo: Okay. What should I bring? I know about clothes, food, med, and water. But nothing else.

Zane: Yea all of that stuff's great and all but, we need weapons.

Leo: WEAPONS!?!

Zane: Only for protection!?!

Leo: Okay... But I really don't wanna get in trouble by the cops...

Zane: Don't worry ;] we won't.

Leo: Whatever you say Mr. Know it all ;]

Zane: Very funny. I gotta go, see ya tonight?

Leo: Yes.

So they started packing up to run away. Leo was kind of scared to run away with a place that they don't know their area. And Zane was filled with joy to run away. But Leo knew this was for the best. To run away. So they packed up, but before they could go. Leo texted Zane something.

Leo: Where are we gonna meet up?

Zane: I'll come and pick you up.

Leo: I... Changed my mind... I'm not going...

Zane: What do you mean you've changed your mind?! Don't you wanna run away? From abusive relatives?!

Leo: Yeah but, I just feel like it's a bad idea because of the cops! They could put us in jail!

Zane: They won't be able to even find us where I'm gonna take us! We will be okay.

Leo: Promise?..

Zane: Promise. I'm almost at your place

Leo: K

Zane climbed up on the second floor roof and knocked on the window. Leo unlocked the window and let Zane through. "Hey, why are you wearing a robber mask?" Leo asked. "Because it's better at night just in case someone sees us." "Whatever you say. I'm ready" "k, let's get out of this hell hole." Leo and Zane climbed back through the window and went on their way.

"You know, we just need to rest like right now" Leo yelled "yea, we probably do. I'll make a fire." They found a good place to rest and Zane made a fire. "This is pretty nice. Thank you." "For what?" "For letting me run away with you, I know that if I wasn't your friend. I would have never left that hell hole." "And you're welcome." They just sat there watching the fire flakes going up into the stars.

"*Yawn* I'm getting kind of tired" Leo yawned "Well, I'll keep watching the fire and you can go to sleep." "Goodnight" "night" Leo laded his head on Zane's shoulder and fell asleep. 

The next morning Zane was the first to wake up. "Wake up sleepy head. We gotta get going" "But I don't wanna" Leo yawned. "We aren't that far away from our abusive houses. They can call the cops and they can put us in jail." "ALRIGHT! I'm up." 

They grab their things and go on their way.
