after hearing the sudden compliment he just let out, i can't feel myself breathe, speak, or blink. it isn't until a few seconds later, he chuckles at my stiffness.
"what? you've never been called cute before?" he rolls his eyes playfully and shakes his head from how ridiculous i probably look. i gulp, "it's not that! i've been called cute many times, but hearing you say that? that's new." i finally speak out the truth.
"hmm, it's weird, isn't it?" his lips are pursed into a thin line as he rethinks it. he takes a glance down at my exposed wrist, "your soulmate is probably waiting until you're able to call him cute." he says and lets himself in my apartment.
for a second i'm confused as to what he meant by that because we don't even know who my soulmate is, but then i realize this guy just let himself into my home without my permission.
i close my front door anyway and follow him into the living room. "oh yeah, you can totally make yourself a home without me having to let you in." i say with sarcasm. he looks up at me since he's already seated on the couch, "thanks mimi. good to know that." he flashes me a wide smile acting like he doesn't realize i was being sarcastic.
he pats on the space next to him, signaling to take a seat there. i shrug and do it anyway. we're really close as if we're able to cuddle or something.
"i've missed you!" he yells out and wraps an arm around my stomach and snuggles himself into the crook of my neck.
my eyes widen from the sudden physical contact, but i allow it anyway. we're close enough for this, right? i start rubbing his back with the palm of my hand, so i wouldn't seem stiff in my position.
"of course you're going to miss me, you decided to hangout with eric these past few days." i reply back coldly.
"do i sense jealousy?" he lifts his head up to catch a glance at my face expression. i roll my eyes to stare at the wall, so i could reject eye contact. "no." i simply respond.
he starts tapping on my chin randomly to annoy me even more. that's when i stare down at him, so he could stop which he does.
"why are you here?" i ask him. he lets go of me and sits up straight again. "i just told you." simply states sunwoo. i squint my eyes in suspicion, "just because you missed me?"
he clears his throat. "that and because i wanted to make plans as well. specifically, maybe to this fair they recently opened up? they're giving discounts to those who attend as couples for this whole month because of valentines." a smirk appears on his face.
"yeah, that's a big no." i immediately reject the offer he's trying to imply. "why not, mimi?! people should take advantage of this discount." he complains very loudly that i feel like my neighbors could hear.
"how in the world are we going to act like a couple?" i deadpan him.

"two tickets, please." says sunwoo while he hands the person money. the worker pulls out the wristbands and ties it on sunwoo making sure to still block his wrist somehow since he doesn't like exposing it.
then, the worker signals me to give him my arm. though, sunwoo just snatches it away from him, "thank you. i'll be tying it on my girlfriend." he informs. the worker simply nods awkwardly, "right. enjoy you two." he says before we walk off.
"you seriously don't know how to work this boyfriend thing. that was too overprotective for no reason." i sigh as i tell him. "it was fun though. being your boyfriend is only a one chance thing, so mind as well make the most fun out of it." he grins at me before his attention is back on all the rides and games.
while his attention is on that, i scan around to see all the people that are here. or more clearly, all the couples that are here. they all look happy and real like how soulmates are supposed to be. it makes me sad that i can't have what those people have right now because of what i went through two months ago. sunwoo probably has sensed how i feel from this as he reaches to connect our hands.
"just pretend i'm your soulmate for today." he whispers into my ear. i feel the chills run through my body. i first look down at our interlocked fingers and then up at his big round eyes.
"why'd you bring me here?" i can't help, but ask. he seems taken back from my sudden question because it catches him unexpectedly. "i thought we could have fun." he ends up answering.
i nod simply at his response and for the rest of the time, we start making lines for rides and games. about two hours have passed and we've at least gone to a few rides. some of them had long lines and some were short. we end up making line for ice cream until it's finally our turn to order.
"one mint chocolate ice cream and the other strawberry please." orders sunwoo for the two of us. the worker nods and stares at us before he scoops up the ice cream flavors.
while scooping, he flashes a small smile. "are you two a new couple? i've never seen you guys around and i've been working here for years." he chuckles as he questions us. "just saying because you two look really good together."
i chuckle nervously as a small signal towards sunwoo that i didn't know how to answer the workers question. "yeah, we just got together. we were really happy too when we found out that we were soulmates which is why we're here." lies sunwoo.
"how sweet." the worker replies and gives the mint chocolate ice cream to sunwoo who has to reach up to grab it. "you could pay over at the side where the cashier is at, meanwhile i give your girlfriend hers." he adds. sunwoo nods and leaves me standing there waiting for my ice cream.
"so, i'm guessing your name starts with a m, right?" he grins. i furrow my eyebrows, "uh yeah. it's mimi. how'd you know?" i ask confusingly. i try to scan all around me to see if my name is somehow written on me magically.
"i caught a glimpse of your boyfriend's wrist, of course. how else would i know?" he laughs casually. i try to relax my face from how i feel. shocked surprised. confused. i've never seen sunwoo's wrist before. i never knew what initial he has on there.
he has the letter m on his wrist?
