"Emma, can you walk any faster?" I scream at my sister.
"Will you relax Kate? The place is like two blocks away." Kate yells back from behind me.
"Its almost nine! We are gonna be late."
"Anyway, what's the big deal about your laptop? Cant you just get it fixed tomorrow?" Adrian says tiredly.
"Of course not!" I scream. I was so annoyed with both of them. The three of us had come to London for two weeks to enjoy a happy summer after graduation. I had decided to carry my laptop to fill out some college applications and essays. But something had gone wrong and my mac (which I had bought with my own hard earned money) had decided to go blank as soon as it opened. Now here we were, the three of us trying to find one Apple store in this god forsaken place which I'm pretty sure is not even two blocks away because the man whom Emma asked looked pretty drunk to me. What a great way to start my first real vacation.
Then suddenly I see the black apple logo. I jump in excitement and fast walk towards the store with Adrian beside me. Emma who had come dressed up with her 5inch stilettos was having a hard time trying to keep up with us.
"You guys, wait up!" When we didn't slow down she said," You know what? Just go ahead. For all I care you'll end up coming back to me." She went and sat on a bench nearby.
As soon as I started walking towards the door, the watchman called out,"Sorry miss, it shuts at nine."
I look at my watch and say," I still have three minutes."
He shakes his head and says," Sorry. You can come back tomorrow morning. It opens at 10."
"Could you give me a late - free pass? It'll only take 5 minutes." I ask in my sweetest tone.
"Can't do that, miss."
Damn! What am I gonna do? I will never be able to finish my essay on time and I won't be able to recover all my data. I'm royally screwed for life.
"Its okay, Kate. We'll just come back tomorrow morning." Adrian says hugging me. He's my best friend. Emma's too. He understands both of us so well even though Emma and I are completely different. We are anything but alike. We slowly start walking towards Emma, who was sitting on the bench and texting furiously in her cell. As we move towards her a bunch of decked up girls pass by us. One of them winks at Adrian. He just ignores her. I had forgotten that we were in the most posh area of London right now.
"Sorry about your laptop." Emma mumbles without looking up from her cell.
"I should never have come here. None of this would have happened then. Its all you fault." I blast all my anger at Emma.
"My fault? Really?" She says still not looking at me.
"Yes! You are the creation of all my problems. You just had to beg mom to send me here. Didn't you?! Now my essay will never be completed on time and I won't get into college and my life will be over." I finish.
Finally she looks up at me and says ,"First, this is none of my fault. I didn't tell your laptop to magically shut down as soon as we reach here. Second, I didn't force you into coming for this trip. You made your own choice. Frankly speaking you made the right choice for a change. And third, stop getting so worked up about your future. Twelve hours won't ruin your life."
I sat down and realised my own stupidity. "I'm sorry I didn't mean to flip out. I'm just really stressed. Your right it was my decision to come with you and I had no right to yell at you. Lets just go back to the hotel and come back in the morning."
Emma looks at me for a long time which creeps me out and I ask curiously,"What?"
She sighs and says,"You seriously cannot expect us to go back, right?"
