{Black And White}

{Chapter One}

*First day of school..*

*Why did we have to move anyway?*

*This school is so big.*

*Wait, was that the bell?*

*Oh no I'm going to be late on my first day!*

I entered the hallway, bustling with students. Some people were talking, some were shouting. I knew that New York was crowded but I think this school is even more packed! My first day at this new high school and I'm already being shoved. I don't even know the way to class! I looked at my timetable and the sheet that that tall lady gave me and it said, 'C4'.

Finally, I arrived. C4? That's the class number. I walked into the classroom, trying to keep my head down so people wouldn't notice me. I think they did though. Well, only one girl. A tall girl with this beautiful dark skin. She had short, straight, wavy black hair. Her eyes were sparkling blue and her round glasses made them look bigger.

"Hello! What's your name?" The first thing she asked me was the question I was dreading to answer. I don't know why but I think I like the teacher calling my name out instead of me. "Uhm.. Jennifer June.. You can call me.. Jenny. What's yours?" I was surprised that I sounded so calm, because normally I probably wouldn't say anything. The girl had a comforting sort of voice, that made me feel like I could trust her. I normally won't trust people this easily but she.. she was.. different.

"Marie Franz! Cute name! I would absolutely love if you would be my friend!" She held her hand out towards me, waiting for me to shake it. I hesitantly took it and shook it. She pulled me over to the vacant seat next to her colourful desk and sat me down. I put my bag on the back of my chair and sat there, looking around my new classroom. Marie turned to me and started to talk to me about how the school worked and a little bit about herself, just so I could get to know her. I wish she was my best friend already because she seemed so nice and a great person to hang out with. I have to write about her in my diary and about this new school! It's going to be a long year!
