Chae-Yeong thought that she and Da-Eun would be best friends forever. When they were little, they had promised to never lie to each other. But as they grew older, the once unbreakable bond between them began to fray.
Despite this, Chae-Yeong held on to the hope that they would always be close. She trusted Da-Eun with her deepest secrets, including her crush on Hyun-Woo. However, little did she know that her trust would be betrayed in the worst possible way.
It started small, with Da-Eun and Hyun-Woo simply smiling at each other in the hallways. Their teacher had assigned to be lab partners. Chae-Yeong couldn't hold back her jealousy, especially when they were talking and laughing together. Hyun-Woo would say something funny, and Da-Eun would burst into giggles, placing a hand on his shoulder as she did so.
Chae-Yeong was quite relieved when Da-Eun started to date her classmate, Jae. They seemed quite happy together, but Chae-Yeong still couldn't shake off the feeling that something was up. She buried those thoughts in the back of her mind, and told herself that Da-Eun would always tell her anything, and would never betray her.
She was wrong.
Da-Eun and Hyun-Woo started to get closer than ever. Da-Eun claimed that they were "just friends", but it certainly didn't seem like that. They had been assigned to sit next to each other in class, and Chae-Yeong sat a little away from them, gazing at Hyun-Woo wistfully and wishing she was sitting next to him.
A voice next to her jerked her out of her thoughts.
"Staring at Hyun-Woo, are we?"
She looked around, and found Jae sitting next to her, a smirk on his face. She vehemently denied his accusation, but he only grinned wider.
"It's fine, I won't tell anyone. He's a good looking chap, and he's pretty smart."
"You aren't jealous that your girlfriend's sitting with him and being all giggly?" Chae-Yeong asked, raising an eyebrow.
He started to fidget a little, but finally replied, "No, I trust Dae-Eun, and you should, too."

"Chae-Yeong, can you please give these notebooks to Professor Jung?"
Without waiting for a reply, her teacher gave her the notebooks and dashed off. Oh, well.
The door was closed and the windows were shut. Chae-Yeong opened the door and entered the classroom.
Her eyes widened in shock as she saw Da-Eun and Hyun-Woo kissing. Her stomach clenched and she gritted her teeth. She was appalled that her friend would stoop so low as to kiss the boy she liked.
I should have seen it coming, she thought. I kept telling Dae-Eun, but she just wouldn't stop.
Was this something true friends would do?
Chae-Yeong wanted to yell at them, but she decided against it. Instead, she quietly closed the door and went to find Professor Jung.
