A date with the Cardinal

(A few months later)

I haven't thrown up flowers in a couple weeks now. There was a sudden knock on my door. I opened it to see Cardinal. We had been getting along better and getting closer. He smiled. "Hey, I was wondering if you would like too..." He lost his confidence in his sentence. "Go on a d-date?" He stuttered. I smiled and blushed. I couldn't believe he was actually asking me out. "I would love to!" I beamed. His face lit up. "Really?" He looked like he was about to bounce off the walls. "Yeah!" He smiled wide and took my hands. "Oh, thank you! Thank you!" He seemed really excited.

He took me to a fancy restaurant. He wore his usual makeup along with a fancy suit. I wore a lace up dress that matched his suit. We sat at a table and he held my hands. We stared at each other lovingly from across the table. There was a sparkle in his eyes. The waiter came up to us and smiled. We ordered our food and went back to looking in eachothers eyes. "So. Do you have any hobbies?" He asked. "Well. I paint and draw. And play guitar and sing." He smiled. "That's wonderful! I don't really have any hobbies. Sometimes I doodle but that's about it." I smiled and rubbed my thumb over his knuckles. "I would love to see your art sometime."

Once we were done eating, Cardinal paid and we left. As we were walking it started to rain. Cardinal took off his leather jacket and used it to shelter us from the rain as we ran back to the church.

Once we got to Cardinal's room we were greeted by his pet rats. I picked one of them up and gave it a little kiss on the nose. "How did you little stinkers get out?" Cardinal asked, looking over at the cage. The cage door was wide open. "I must've left the door open..." He laughed nervously. I smiled and put the rat back into its cage and helped him get the other two.

"Thanks for that. Want to stay the night? You can borrow some of my clothes." My face lit up. "I would love to!" He smiled and pulled me into a tight hug. I wrapped my arms around him and patted his back.

We got comfortable on the couch and started a movie. He let me pick so I chose Princess Bride. Half way into the movie, Cardinal fell asleep. I chuckled and scooted closer to him, wrapping my arms around him and resting my head on his chest. I closed my eyes and slowly drifted off to sleep.
