Tak! Tak! Sounds of rain outside playing like a melody to Jieun's ears. She's being out of focus since she got into the classrooms.
" Miss Yoon! Please stand up and answer this question!" Ms. Kim, the homeroom teacher, called out Jieun name as she found out that Jieun didn't even focus on her class today.
" The brown bear (Ursus arctos) is a large bear species found across Eurasia and North America.[1][3] In North America, the populations of brown bears are called grizzly bears, while the subspecies that inhabits the Kodiak Islands of Alaska is known as the Kodiak bear. You need anything more Ms. Kim?" Ms. Kim was left speechless by her student's answer.
Jieun decide to ditch today class and sleep at the rooftop of the classroom building. She enjoy the rain bathing and stare at empty sky, alone.
" Pretty cool huh out here?" Jieun turn around to looks at the owner of the voice.
" Hi I'm Park Eun Ae. Just call me Aeri. That's my nickname. What about you?" Eun Ae takes a place beside Jieun.
" Jieun. Yoon Jieun," she continue staring at the sky which the rain has stop raining.
" So why're you here? Getting a detention too? Or skipping class?" Eun Ae looks at Jieun hopping an answer .
" The later one," Jieun went back sleeping on the floor. She closing her eyes when the girl beside her start laughing. ' This girl is weird,' thought Jieun while fake ignoring the girl.
" You're weird! Ahahaha!! Hey, wanna be my friend?" Eun Ae looks at Jieun with her sparkling eyes.
" No," Jieun get up and left the rooftop leaving the girl speechless. " She really interesting," Eun Ae talking to herself giggling.
~ Night~
Jieun walking alone in the dark route to her house. She has been alone for 8 years since she tranferred here. Her parents divorced and she follow her mom to Korea.
She open the door as she arrive at her house. " I'm home," she said as she close the door and took off her shoes.
" Welcome home my baby. How's your day today?" Her mom welcomes Jieun at the kitchen.
" Normal as usual," she directly went inside her bedroom. She clean herself before heading to the dining table.
She sit on one of the chair, opposite to her mom. Her mom prepare dinner for both of them. They eat dinner quietly until her mother started the conversation.
" Did you adapt to the new school yet?" Her mother ask. Yes, this is the 3rd school she staying as she switching school every year.
" No. It's the same, mom. No worry about myself. How about you?" Jieun answer with a smile on her face. A genuine smile only for her mother.
Jieun really loves her mother and hates her father for playing behind her mother with his own secretary. Her mother found out when she decide to give a suprise to her husband. At that time, her mother really broke down and Jieun always stay by her mother side until today. The mother's sister is a lawyer and she the one helping her mother win the child care. Then, Jieun and her mother decide to move from Japan to Korea for a new life. Jieun also change her name and use her mother family's name.
" I'm alright, baby. Thanks to you my life have been really great. I also loves working there," her mother then continue to talk about her coworker. Jieun hear her mother's story without leaving any pieces behind.
After the dinner, Jieun get inside her room and start doing her homework. Her classmates list out the homework today for her as they know her behaviour already.
" Do you wanna be my friend?" The girl question playing inside her head that night. ' Friends... Is it fun to have a friend?' She thought to herself. ' Maybe it's not hurt to try once,' she thought to herself again and went into dreamy world.
~Morning~
" Morning mom," she greets her mother. She wearing her shoes for school.
" Morning my baby. Here don't forget your mealbox. Have a nice day," her mother watch Jieun until the door close.
Jieun walks to the school as she too lazy to use her daily money on the bus. When she arrive at the school gates, she hear a familiar voice.
" And then the cat chase me up until I ran inside my house," she tell the story with her scare face.
" That's what happened when you stole it fish," the other said while the other laughing at her friends behaviour.
" Ah, Jieun! Morning!" The girl who just told her sad story shout when she found Jieun walking behind her.
' Somehow I feel like wanna hide my face somewhere," Jieun thought to herself as she looks down avoiding the girls.
" Ah this the girls you told us yesterday? Nice to meet you. My name is Choi Young Mi. You can call me Yun," the shortest girl among the three introduce herself while smiling.
" I'm Lee Hwa Young. You can call me Hwa. Not the idol one, okay?" The loud girl put a joke while introduce herself.
" This is my childhood friends. So do you want to go to the class together with us?" Eun Ae ask Jieun. She nod as an answer and walk towards the class.
" So we've arrive at our class. Where do you wanna go?" Hwa Young ask as Jieun still walk straight pass their class.
" I'm in 3 - A not in 3 - C. See you guys later," and then she continue to walk towards her class.
" I'm going to my class too. See you guys later in recess," Young Mi then walk towards her classroom.
" Why we always friend with clever people?" Hwa Young ask Eun Ae. " I also don't know," both of them sigh and went inside their classroom.
