"Okay mom, I promise not to eat too much junk food and stay up too late. Yeah I'll call you everyday, yes mom, okay, MOM! I promise I'll be fine okay, I love you too", Yanie sighed as she hung up her phone. She had sent a simple text updating her family group chat on the situation and had immediately been bombarded with texts and messages by her mother. Although she loved her very much, it could become overbearing at times. Yanie just wanted to live a normal adult life, chill with her friends and be unbothered by what goes on around her... to a certain degree. But of course, coming from an immigrant family this was hard to get. Thankfully, the rest of her friends were in the same situation and they could all relate to one another.
Yanie grabbed a pack of Takis from the chips aisle and slowly walked up to the cashier, and as she reached the counter she realized she had forgotten her wallet. "Uhmm...", Ayan awakrldy said, "do you guys take Apple pay? I'm really sorry I packed my wallet in my suitcase, and its in the car and I don't think I can unload and-" she got cutoff by the boy at the cash register, "it's okay don't worry, its just chips you can take them! Besides, seems like your friend is gonna have to pay a hefty sum to fix up that car... its the least I can do". Yanie's eyes widened, "oh, are you sure?", the boy smiled "I'm very sure". Yanie smiled back softly, the boy was kinda cute, he looked like a hamster. "Jisung..", she read his nametag, "happen to be related to Jihyo?", "oh yeah she's my older siser. Her and I run the shop together, our dads too old to do it himself and with mom gone he's just always in a bad mood". "Oh, I'm really sorry to hear that" Yanie said as she frowned empathetically towards, "it's cool, she passed a while ago so it isn't a big deal anymore".
They both looked out the window to see the rest of Yanie's friends with Jihyo, trying to figure out whats wrong with the car.
"Well, looks like the engines fried and the batterys dead. It's gonna take a couple days, even a week to fix up, we would have to order new parts and that wait time is unpredictable", Jihyo said as she came back from the garage cleaning the oil off her hands with a rag. Skyy couldn't help but fan girl over her girl crush charms, Jihyo just looked so cool doing anything.
"NO... absolutely not, this cannot be happening. SKYY! The Hex Boyz concert is in one day and I can't miss seeing Kun sing live, I will actually die", Fifi groaned. She had been waiting two months for this concert and if she missed it all hell would break loose. "Hey, don't worry the concert is just on the other side of town, I can drive you guys there when its time and for now you can stay at the Burlington hotel a couple blocks down in the middle of town", Jihyo said with a smile, trying to calm everyone down.
"BURLINGTON HOTEL? Isn't that the haunted one Skyy was searching up... Oh god please no, I can't keep doing this I'm only 19 and I already feel gray hairs coming in", Eman groaned, "I think you should be more worried about arthiritis Eman, with the way I heard those knees crack when you got up from the car...", Anushka chimed in which earned them a shove.
"Everybody calm down okay", Skyy said as she put her arms up, "I think thats a perfect idea Jihyo. We can grab our luggage and go right now, if you don't mind giving us a ride there that is", she giggled slighlty as she asked. "Munch", Fifi mumbled while rolling her eyes, "thats good with me! Let's head out on the road", Jihyo said while hopping in her truck and starting it up.
"Guys I don't know, I'm getting some serious bad vibes from this town right now", Eman said as she rubbed her arms, she felt shivers going through her body while looking around seeing the deserted streets with broken down shady stores ligning them up. "Eman you just need to go to the bathroom, now lets go", Anushka said, "YANIE! GET OVER HERE WE'RE LEAVING!".
They all grabbed their suitcases from the Mystery machine, Skyy packing away her mystery solving tools and hiding them in her bags, and headed off to Jihyo's truck once again. "I'm starting to like that truck more than your dingy old car Skyy, it has a sense of history", Yanie said while they walked towards Jihyo and her truck. "The only history in that truck are the cheeto prints on the seats, and I'll have you know that the mystery machine has a colorful history too! She's been here since the start and helped us solve so much shit!", Skyy huffed as she kicked Yanie in the shin, "OW!".
"Besides, those cheeto prints are probably from Eman, I saw her snacking on those Hot Cheetos before", Fifi said as she shrugged her shoulder, "Hey!".
They got in Jihyo's truck and reached the hotel, successfully checking in and getting their rooms: Yanie, Skyy, and Anushka sharing one room while Eman and Fifi shared the adjacent one.
"Ugh I'm beat, that whole situation was so tiring", Eman groaned as she laid on the bed. "Take a shower before you sleep or you're going to wake up feeling dirty in the morning", Fifi told her as she sat down on her bed wile plugging her phone into the charger on the nightstand.
She checked Twitter to see if there was any updates on the Hex Boyz and was pleased to see a tweet from them saying they had arrived in the city. "OH EM GEE! They're here! What if we see them out tomorrow, we need to go explore", Fifi said as she turned to Eman.
"As much as I'd like to see Jaemin and proclaim my love to him, I don't think they'd be exploring any parts of THIS town. It all looks so sketchy and weird, I want to leave as soon as we can, why would the Hex Boyz even have their concert here?", Eman mumbled. "I told you, its because this was their hometown, so they wanted to host their first concert here to make it memorable", Fifi replied and Eman shrugged as she got up to take a shower.
Both girls soon showered, and got ready for bed. Quickly falling asleep, the day had taken a toll on them.
