Burgers, burgers, and more burgers. Can't anyone order anything other then a greasy, sloppy burger? Why are people so into the unhealthy foods that could make them sick? Why can't anyone walk in here and order a nice, healthy salad? I don't know, something without grease in it.
People are really strange.
"Scarlett, get your head out of your ass and get back to work" Mr. Williams, the owner of this diner, barks at me as I stayed behind the counter, dazzing off into space. I didnt even realize more customers came in and were waiting for me. Bethany called out sick and Jessica is off today so I am the only one available, other than Ethan.
"Yeah and how about you stop cheating on your wife and your marriage will have less fights" I mumble under my breath before take my note pad and walking over to the two new people who have to be new in town because I have never seen them in here before and it's usually the same old people who can't cook for themselves who live in this town.
I was surprised when I got up to these two men. They were both pretty attractive. One looked older then the other, short dirty blonde hair and these bright green eyes. The other well he looked like some animal with his freakishly long hair. Kind of like a moose. He was definitely younger then the other, that I could tell and they both shared this look like they have been through hell and back.
I am really good at reading people.
Anyway, they both wore suits as if they wear them for a living. They had files spread all over there table, looking like they are in deep conversation. Can't really put a finger on why I'm so curious all of a sudden?
Shaking my head, I just decided to walk up to them and take there damn order. "Afternoon, gentleman. Are you ready to order?"
They both looked up at me, and I couldn't help but stare into the moose's light brown eyes. He doesn't really say anything, just pushed whatever papers he had in his hand and grabbed the menu.
"Well, now that your here sweetheart, I'm ready for anything" the one with the green eyes says in his best seductive tone as he gave me a side wink. I will admit, he is really good looking, but then again, I usually don't pick up outsiders or anyone in general really.
I smirk. "Well isn't that great to hear." I lean in close, so only him, his friend and I could hear this. "But I'm going to save you the embarrassment of striking out by telling you ahead of time that you have know chance. So why don't you order and stop talking me in that ridiculous seductive tone of yours, hum?"
I stood back as I watched his flirting face completely shut down at my words. His face heated up bright red as he coughed back a swallow. His friend looked like he was trying so hard not laugh as he forced myself kept his mouth shut.
"Uh, I'll have a bacon cheeseburger with fries" he orders, loosening his tie so he can breath. I smirk and wrote down his order.
"And for you, sir?" I ask, turning to the moose.
"Uh, I'll have the Greek salad please" he orders before handing me his and his friend there menus. I look at him with raised eyebrows, surprised for a minute. When he realized, he looks back at me with confusion.
"What?"
I shake my head. "Nothing. It's just... You don't know how good it is hearing someone order something without all the fat and grease in there foods."
Moose raised his eyebrows. "Well normally people live a lot longer if we all learned I eat healthier."
I stare at him, surprised. "Took the words right out of my mouth." I grab the menus and cleared my throat, not look away from moose as he stare at me with a shy, pretty smile. "I'll, uh... I'll be back with your orders."
I basically ran from them. Something isn't right. Something feels very, very strange. I feel very, very strange. I can't put a finger on what it is, I never felt... I dont know, good after talking to some complete stranger.
Huh... Weird.
I actually tried talking Ethan into switching tables with me, but the guy has held a grudge over me ever since I told his girlfriend that he got drunk and tried getting with me. First of all, I didn't even know that was his girlfriend. Second of all, he shouldn't have tried getting my number even if he was trashed and didn't know what the hell he was doing. And third of all, I couldn't give two shits that I ruined a five years relationship and that he was going on propose. Why should I care about something like that? Not my problem.
So after he rudely rejected me, I just decided to be my normal bitchy self and grabbed those strange men orders and walked over to there table.
I didn't even say anything when I got there, I just put green eyes burger in front of him and moose's salad in front of him. Just as I was about to grab the tray and leave, something strange caught my eye. It was a newspaper, yesterday's actually and I saw a missing picture of someone who looks oddly familiar.
I didn't realize I was starring at the picture for long when Moose grabbed my attention. "Do you know her?"
I snapped my eyes till they met his and I felt my heart skip a beat just looking at him. Okay, weird. I clear my throat and shake myself out of my daze.
"Yeah, a little. How long has she been missing?" I questioned, looking at the picture of the only person I ever considered a friend like Dillion before she turned on me and started hating me.
This seemed to grab the two mens attention. "About three weeks now. How do you know River Queen?" It was green eyes who asked this, his voice waa rough as they both gave me wary looks.
Three weeks? "Um... We used to be friends. But that was a while ago. Who, uh, who are you guys?"
"Names Agent Simmons and this is my partner Agent Timothy" they both paused to reach in there jacket pockets and pull out two pages and held it up to me. "We're investing the disappears of your old friend."
Before green eyes could put away his badge, I grabbed ahold of it and had a closer look.
Agent Frank T. Simmons. Badge number, 456328928.
I raised my eyebrow at him. "Oh really, agent?" Green eyes looked at his 'partner' before turning back to me.
"Yeah, really. May I please have my badge back?" he ask, holding out his hand.
"Of course you can. I have to say Frank, you sure have gotten younger. Have you been doing special treatment to make yourself look younger or something?" I tested them, putting a hand on my hip.
Green eyes stared at me with wide eyes, as did moose as they look at me, dumbfounded and lost with words. "Uh... Do you know-I mean do we know each other?" he stuttered, nervously.
"I'm offended Frank. I know it's been two years but I haven't changed that much. It's me, your son Dillion Simmons best friend? Sister to your future daughter-in-law? Aunt to your nephew? I didn't even know you we back in town?" I continued my act, playing fake as green eyes choked up. Moose just looked uncomfortable as he put away his badge.
"You guys really should of done your homework next time you want to steal a name and a badge from an FBI agent. My best friends father is Frank T. Simmons who is an FBI agent and had this badge stolen from him about three years ago" I explain to these idiots, waking the badge in front of them for affect. I hand it back to him.
"So, how about you both tell me who you really are and the real reason why you are so interested in River Queen?" I crossed my arms over my chest, refusing to move. I don't care if other orders are ready right now.
"That, is none of your business. Now how about run along before you get yourself hurt?" Green eyes threaten, practically sneering at me. He did not scare me.
"That was cute. Really, I'm shaking. But you see, I'm not the one pretending to be federal agents. So I suggest you start talking or I start screaming. Your call" I challenge, as they both look at me with a 'you got to be kidding' look. I tilted my head to side, getting impatient. "5...4...3...2-"
"Alright! Just don't scream" green eyes snapped. I smirk successfully, looking around and see the Ethan has taken my other tables for me. Okay, this day is very strange.
I offered myself a seat next to them as I took the paper that had a pic of my old friend. I try not to think about what went down between the two of us and looked back up at these idiots.
"Well?"
Moose sighed while green eyes just rolled his eyes, obviously annoyance. Good, I hope I get under that tanish skin of his.
"My name is Sam Winchester and this is my brother Dean. We were told about your friends disappearance, as we were told about the other two. We thought we could help" Moose, or I should say Sam explains.
"Did you know the other two who disappeared?" I questioned.
"No" green eyes answered, or Dean as Sam told me answer, well, basically growled.
"Then why are two complete strangers interested in missing people who you don't even know?"
"It's kind of our job" Sam answered. I raised a brow.
"And what kind of job has you impersonate federal agents?" I know I was asking a lot of question, but I really did not care. I don't even know why I am asking these really.
"That is actually one of the things you don't need to know. Now I have some questions for you. When was the last time you saw River Queen?" Dean asked, quickly changing the subject. I glared at him, not liking what he just did but I do respect it. I was being very nosey.
"Last April. That was the only time I remember seeing her last. It was actually at a party" I tell them, not sure why I am.
"And you said you guys are friends?" Sea asks.
"We were."
"What happened?" Dean ask right away, making me snap my head to stare at him. I stayed quiet, not wanting to think of our fight and how it actually did hurt. It wasn't like when my parents died, but chose words she decided to use stung a little, because she was one of the people I did care about. It was always my parents, my sister, Dillman, and River. Then Ryan came in found his way to my heart then River left.
"We had a fallen out. Haven't spoken since" was all decide to tell them.
"Scarlett! What the hell do you think your doing?!" Mr. Williams barks at me as Ethan stands behind him with a smirk on his face. Oh that little shit. I now know why he willing took my tables, it was to make himself look good.
"I guess our time is up boys" I say, getting up from the table. Before I left, turn to back to them, not ready for the words to come out of my mouth. "Whatever the hell you guys do, just find River."
They both look like they weren't expecting that and just nodded in response. I turn around and walked up to Mr. Williams, who I could swear was bright in the face with anger, such that it looked like steem was coming out.
"Come with me. NOW!" he barked at him. I groaned as I glared at Ethan who was grinning like a kid on Christmas morning.
I didn't leave without flipping him off and followed Mr. Williams to the back.Big thanks to everyone who is reading. Don't forget to vote and comment what you think.
