'Why did my homeroom teacher do what he know what would happen? I figured it out soon enough.'

Kyeongmin stood in front of a vending machine as he watched the drink fall out into the bin. He stared at it as he heard the teachers talking amongst themselves, all of them smoking.

"What's the world coming to these days. We're stuck hiding out like a bunch of teenage punks." One spoke out. The other agreed with him, "I hear you. When will they make a smoking room for us teachers..."

"First they tell us we can't, then they say not to lay a finger on the students...I'm telling you there's no place for teachers these days." A teacher with a light blue shirt and dark blue pants spoke out as he held a cigarette in his hand.

"Did you hear about Mr. Shin a few months back? He yelled at some kids for talking in class but then a clip of it went viral and he had to go to a tribunal. There's no say for a teacher's rights." This time a teacher with a white shirt spoke out as he was seated between the other two adults.

"Hm I don't see the issue." This time Kyeongmin's home room teacher started to speak, "I actually prefer how it is now." He spoke, he too had a cigarette in his hand.

"How so?"

Kyeongmin's teacher brought his cigarette to his lips and smiled, "it's great they outlawed corporal
punishment for the sake of the students' human rights, but there aren't any effective measures put in place if students act out. The best we've got is merits and demerits. And even handing demerits
out will make some parents jump down your throat."

The teacher then pointed at the other two, who listened closely to the man's words, "the ministry of education has basically told us to stop trying to manage students. Don't you think?" The two teachers nodded in agreement.

"So there's a simple solution."

The next words that came out the teacher's mouth, made Kyeongmin sick to his stomach, "Don't bother trying to control or guide them, just teach them the course materials. all you'll get
for trying to mess with those hopeless troublemakers is getting beaten to death, just like that teacher years ago."

"let the kids...
..figure out their issues for themselves."

Kyeongmin stared wide eyed at the vending machine, he still has yet to grab the drink that had already fallen. He couldn't believe what he was hearing. His own reflection betrayed him.

'Now it was clear. What he did that day during homeroom was just for show.....A message to students, telling us not to come to him with our petty bullshit. There isn't a single person who will stand up for me.
The only choice I have is to transfer to a new school, or put up with this for three years.
but now things have changed.'
