"Why the forest? surely we could find shelter in the remains of an old building," Stila scoffed "I was a camp councillor, I know how to survive in dire conditions." She said, twirling her short black hair in her fingers.
"A camp councillor, please, I'm in the army. And I agree with the old woman, we go to the woods. Safer than here." Max stated.
Stila was about to argue but decided against it, as it seemed most of the others agreed with the old woman and the man from the army, and going out alone wasn't wise, Stila knew that. As the ragtag group of survivors headed towards the woods, a teenaged boy piped up,
"Excuse me, but does anyone know what the hell just happened out there? I mean the whole fucking sky lit up, then there were these loud noises, and now the whole damn city's destroyed! Forgive me for prying, but I kind of want some answers!"
"I believe the universe is testing us," Mags said, calmly, "And right now it wants us together. We will be able to survive as a group, if we stick together. I believe we're together for a reason, and that we will know it soon enough." She smiled.
"Well if we're gonna be survivin' together, I want to know y'all's names." An older southern lady chimed in "I'm Margaret, and Jude here is my niece, who the hell are you?"
Four others introduced themselves, Mags; the old woman, Roberto and his wife, Anita; they spoke very little English and were tourists from Brazil, and Stila; the young woman.
