I was on my way to pour myself some orange juice when I was immediately stopped. The doorbell rang. I didn't even get to lift the carton. I sighed and put the orange juice back in the fridge and yawned, pulling myself towards the front door.

I scratched the back of my head, furrowing my eyebrows. I was mildly confused by the fact someone ringing the doorbell this early in the morning.

It made me wonder if I was getting robbed.

I opened the door and smiled, ready to curbside kick him if necessary.

"Hello?"

"You have a delivery, sir."

Since when did I order something online?

"I need you to sign here."

It must've come in late, whatever I ordered. It probably means nothing to me now. If it's useful, I'll keep it. If not, I can simply return it.

I signed and was not expecting a big box to roll its way into the foyer of my house. I scratched the back of my head sheepishly, finding myself shy from saying anything.

They gave me a key and I bit my lip, watching them leave quietly.

As they closed the door, I snapped my head towards the big box in front of me. I heard something move.

"What the..."

I heard a small mewl before silence.

A cat?

I grip at the tarp and tugged it off completely. I coughed and gagged from the stench and looked at the box.

When I fully seeped into my mind what was in front of me, I gasped and realized it wasn't a box. It was a rusty cage with scratch marks on some of the bars.

No wonder I heard weird metal noises when they were moving it in.

I turned and saw a shaking calico kitten hidden away underneath a poorly woven blanket. It had holes and defeated the purpose of a blanket. The holes were so big there was no way they would cover even a bug.

The poor kitten must be really cold.

Why was there such a big cage for a small kitten?

"Hey, little guy!"

He flinched and pushed back further into the corner. He must've been startled by my handsome voice.

"Don't worry! I won't hurt you."

I smiled as the kitten seemed to be only a tad bit less scared than it was originally. I looked around to cage and saw something that I could only think was vomit.

No way that was food.

He let out an unsure mew. It was trembled out and small. I smiled at the cute sound.

I opened my hand where the delivery man gave me the key. It was fancy due to the engravements of it and the tainted gold, probably used by many before me.

But who would return such a cute kitty?

I pushed the key in the lock and tried to make as silent of noise as possible, but the brittle-looking lock made it harder when it tapped obnoxiously against the metal bars.

The kitten shook and its ears went back when I poked my head in the cage.

I gently held him with the blanket and saw as he looked at me with his big brown eyes. I smiled at him and made a promise mentally.

I will help this kitten no matter what.

I looked at the transparent purple collar that jingled due to a bell attached to it and saw a shiny heart name tag. It had a name on it.

"J.." Jimin?"

He perked up slightly and his eyes focused on me. I smiled widely.

"That's your name, huh?"

As if the kit understood my question, it nodded.

I chuckled.

"Alright Jimin. Looks like you're living with me now."
