"Loki..." Frigga called seeing her son rush over to her. He wrapped his arms around her in a tight hug startling her slightly. "You are my home." He whispered in her ear making her smile. "How did it go? What did Hrothgar tell you?"She asked as he released her. "Mother, I must go to Midgard." He answered. "Why?" she asked, concerned for her son. "Hrothgar told me of a child that has just been born. One that would change my life. He said I must find it." He smiled at his mother. She smiled back.
"I will be back soon, mother." He said turning to leave. "Loki, wait a moment." Frigga hurried into her room and came out with a small parcel. "What is it?" Loki asked taking the parcel from her. "Give it to the little one."Loki smiled. "Thank you, mother."Frigga bid her son farewell and Loki headed off for the Bifrost Bridge on his horse. 'Hopefully Heimdall will let me pass.' Loki thought to himself upon reaching Bifrost. "Good Heimdall..."
"I will let you pass. As long as I can keep an eye on you."Heimdall said nearly cutting off Loki. "Agreed." Loki thanked the gatekeeper as he dismounted his horse.
With a blast of energy the Bifrost sent him to a dark polluted city on Midgard. It took quite a bit of looking and by the time Loki found him he was exhausted. But in the end he did find him.
It was well after midnight and a slight breeze blew the curtain at the window of the small, dingy, apartment. Loki honestly felt a little strange being in someone's house while they were asleep but Hrothgar told him to find the child and he did.
Loki watched as the baby squirmed for a minute then started to whimper. Loki reached into the crib and picked up the child, holding him in his arms. "Shhh..." Loki gently rocked the bundle in his arms lulling him to sleep. "The seer was right. You do have potential. You will do great things... Edward." Loki smiled as the little one clung to his chest.
He chuckled and hummed lightly in the child's ear. He lay Edward back in his crib and pulled out the parcel. He carefully unwrapped it so as not to make a sound. Inside was a small stuffed horse...with eight legs.
Loki rolled his eyes at the gift and placed it next to Edward. He chuckled slightly as the child immediately clung to the toy.Loki shrouded himself as the door to the room slowly opened. Edward's mother peeked her head through the door and looked around for a moment, shrugged then left. Loki heard the door shut and made himself visible once again. He reached into the crib one last time and let the child hold his finger for a moment before carefully taking it back. Then he took a step back and smiled. "Goodnight. My little fool." And just like that he was gone.
