"How did you get here?" Uea scowled over at the detestable object across from him.
"In my car, the comfortable Audi two-seater that rides like a dream." King quickly replied and settled deeper in his seat. "Would you like to take a test drive sometime?" King smiled back meaning nothing about a car.
"I would rather crash on a bus during Songkran." Uea shot back.
"Now nowwwwww it's my birthdayyyyyy you knew everyone was invited. For more presents, for your presence I mean---" Jade said loudly and then adjusted his glasses. He was four drinks in drinking the vodka sodas like they were mineral water.
"Thank you! I loveeee them." Jade said holding up his new Nintendo Switch and workbag. "You two just know exactly what to get me."
"So the 20 Line messages mentioning every Switch game meant something?" King replied. "Who knew?"
Uea for once was in agreement. "So that time you drug me all around Siam Paragon mall and pointed at the exact bag that would be great and look good with someone's favorite blue shirt wasn't a hint? Amazing."
Uea's slender hand held his Cosmopolitan and sipped it from the delicate martini glass.
King smiled across from him and raised his own Cosmopolitan in a toast.
King was mocking him again. He definitely did not like Cosmos, he probably thought they were too girly. He looked more like a craft beer guy. Him sipping the same pink drink was just one more way to get under Uea's skin.
Uea rolled his eyes and looked away.
"Oooo it's the gang. Bas! Gun! Over here!!" Jade said waving his hands so furiously he looked like he was directing air traffic. "For me? You shouldn't have. I mean you should've it's my birthday, but thankssssss." Jade quickly grabbed the presents and started tearing at their decorative wrapping. Like a crafty ferret he tore through the wrapping paper to bring up a gift card for the cinema and a back pillow shaped like a seal.
"Not bad! Not bad! Passing grades for everyone." Then he held the seal pillow up and clapped like a trained seal. "Now that that's settled. FOOD, and MORE DRINKS!" Jade yelled, or just used his usual voice which happened to be in a perpetual state of loud.
Uea's eyes met King's across the table and for once they looked at each other and shook their heads in unison. Jade was Jade, but he was our Jade they thought.
Not more than five seconds later their table was interrupted by a woman with long straight hair and a skintight dress leaning over to King. "This table seems fun." Looking at no one but King. "Can I join?"
"King you better not ditch me on my birthdayyyyyy~!" Jade said and kicked his shin.
"Wouldn't think of it." Said the guy who looked like he was obviously thinking about it. "Sorry, tonight's boy's only." King replied to the petite lady. King raised his glass as a way of sending her away however she already stopped even looking him.
"And what about you?" The woman had turned her attention to Uea, batting her long lashes.
"Oh he's boy's only always." King shot in.
"Fuck you King." Uea said then turned to the woman and shrugged. He was right however, Uea was definitely gay.
"Name your time and place, Mr. Anon." King smirked.
Uea just rolled his eyes and sipped his drink. It was his best friend's birthday, he wasn't going to spend the whole night fighting with the chief of the assholes.
"He bothering you?" Uea turned to see a tall, fit man in a tight polo and dress slacks asking the question.
"Can't you see an argument between lovers is when you see one? Now buzz off, bro." King edged in.
