oh god I haven't updated in a while. sorry. i'm bad at this stuff.

We arrived in California at 8 the next morning. Unfortunately, due to my fear of planes, I had to drive. It took 17 hours. I had to stop a few times because, well, I have a three year old in the car with me.

I got out of the car and woke up Matty.

"Matty," I whispered. "Matty, we're at grandma's."

His eyes opened, although still sleepy. I unbuckled him and he slowly got out of his car seat. He stood outside sucking his thumb and holding his little bear dressed as Iron Man that Aunt Isabella got him from Build-A-Bear for his second birthday.

I opened the trunk and pulled out our suitcases. I walked to the porch and set them down. Matty slowly walked behind me.

I looked under a rock near the front window. House key. Oh, mom; you haven't changed much in the last couple years.

My mother always kept a key under a rock in case she ever forgot hers. Seems as if she still forgets it at times.

I put the key in the lock and opened the door.

"Liam," I heard my mother call. "Is that you? You're home early!"

"Mom?" I replied.

I saw my mother walk from the kitchen.

"Hi." I said.

"Natalia?"

"Yes, mom. It's me."

I could see her eyes welling up with tears and all I could do was the same. I ran to her and hugged her. Both of us began crying. It was a couple minutes before either of us said anything.

I pulled out of the hug and looked up at her.

"Mom," I began. "I would love for you to meet your grandson. Matty?"

I looked over at him. He was laying on the floor sleeping. I'm a great mother.

I walked over to him and picked him up.

"Matty," I sing-songed. "Maaatty."

He opened his bright green eyes and looked around. When he saw my mother, his eyes opened wide.

"Matty, this is your grandma." I said as I put him down on the floor.

He walked over to where she was sitting on the couch. He looked up at her with his green eyes and hugged her, and you could see the tears fall from her eyes.

"Well hello, sweetheart," she said. "I'm so glad to finally meet you."

"I like your hair." He replied.

She chuckled, "thank you. I like yours, too."

She tickled him and he fell into a fit of giggles.

"So you're ticklish?" She laughed.

"Stop it gwandma! Stop!"

She tickled him once more and kissed him on the forehead.

"How about you take your stuff to that room over there," she said as she pointed to my old room. "I want to talk with your mommy."

"Okay!"

He walked over to his bag and tried to act strong and pick it up, but eventually gave up and just dragged it across the floor, along with his bear.
