Dominos: Chapter XXVIII

Silent whispers

"May I offer you a dance perhaps?"

"Of course."

Jisung sighed. His back leaned on the bar behind him while his eyes gazed at the dancing gentlemen and ladies. Was it all so...old-fashioned? Perhaps, but he saw in many eyes that they were merely enjoying themselves.

All wore such a fancy attire just as he was: a red jacket and dark pants suiting well his tan body and wavy hair.

He had heard many ask ladies to dance, and in the meantime, he was sipping whiskey in a glass far too exquisite.

His eyes roamed the room and he found no interest in doing whatever, especially with so many matters unresolved. With Chan hiding something from them, from him, it didn't make it easy for Jisung to have a good time, even with Hyunjin's advice, who was off dancing with Changbin only to laugh at his poor skill.

Han breathed in and out and yet, the air still seemed stuck in his throat like it would never reach his lungs. There were far too many people. The music was far too loud, and not up to his taste. And the decors... well, they were probably the only interesting things to look at right now.

"This is just unbearable."

"I know."

"What are we, in the 19th century?"

"Minho you should stop talking and enjoy the moment while you can still speak without restraint."

Lee knows turned his head to his friend, seemingly confused as his eyebrows furrowed at Han's words. His heart beat fast, but his curiosity was stronger than the lingering feeling in his chest.

"Whatever do you mean?" he questioned.

"We obviously will get caught eventually. Whether it is by authorities or the agency." He kept his gaze forward, refusing to meet Minho's deep eyes.

"Jisung, we're not going to get caught. I'll make sure of it."

"You can't possibly know that Min."

"That's not it, is it? There's more troubling your mind."

Jisung's lips seemed to tremble. Minho lingered his gaze on them, noticing the shiver that ran down the younger's spine judging by his reaction. He looked at the boy with such admiration, worry, and confusion, trying to put the puzzle pieces together and know what troubled his crush so much. Ever since the talk the previous day he had been acting weird. No, even before he was acting weird.

"I just... I feel like we're not doing anything. We have money we don't even know where it comes from, we have access to databases we don't use and could be a great help and there's so much we could've done by now if not for Ch-nothing."
