Chapter 2: Feline Fury

My muscles were so relaxed and my eyes felt so droopy that they might close for good. It wouldn't be good to stay in here for too long so I decided to get out. If I don't get back to base soon, people will start wondering where I am. I doubt anyone would come looking for me. I'm always on my own anyways. But just in case something urgent happens, I better be there for it.

As I was about to get up I felt something watching me. I immediately felt self-conscious and lowered myself into the water as if it wasn't transparent.

"Who's there?" I asked to the open air. Nothing. "Hey, come out 'cause I know you're there!" Actually I'm not even sure if anyone's there at all. Maybe it's just my imagination but I swear there was something. Just then I heard a scratch coming from my left, towards the exit. "Hey, asshole, show yourself!" I saw a small shadow move. "Are you proud of being a peeping tom? I said show yourself!" Silence. "Answer me!"

"Meow"

"M-meow?" I said dumbfounded. "What do you... holy shit you're a cat." The shadow walked out from the darkness and into my field of vision. It was a grey tabby with a white underbelly and a dark grey stripe along its back. It's just a cat. I got paranoid over a cat. I sweatdropped as I realised how stupid I was acting.

Shaking my head, I stepped out of the pool and slowly, cautiously, walked over to the small feline. I whispered sweet things to the cat in a sing-song voice to try to lure it.

"Here little baby..." Damn, it's so cute! Probably the cutest kitten I'd ever seen. It mewled and purred as it stepped closer to me. "Come 'ere... It's okay, it's okay..." I cooed. Come on, get closer! I kneeled down as it inched towards me. The anticipation was killing me. I hadn't had a cat since I lived in Yugakure. His name was Reimi and I treated him like he was my son. When he died at only three, I was devastated. I never showed this though. Oh hell no. Although I was a lot more innocent back then, I would never show my true feelings. It was like I censored myself. A lot of people got intimidated by this, but not my friend Hiikuro. Not Hidan. Never.

Just then the kitten ran off in the other direction.

"Hey! Here, kitty, kitty! C-come back!" I said loudly. I dove towards the ash colored cat as if I were diving into a swimming pool. "Gotcha!" I caught the soft feline in my arms, and surprisingly, it didn't seem to dislike me. It actually looked like I made it more soothed. (Well that's a first...) It moved it's head side to side. It let me scratch the back of its ears and it laid down on the floor. The purring noises it made- oh my Jashin, it's too much for me to handle!

As I looked down at my new friend, I realised something very important. I was stark nude.

"Shit, shit, shit. Haha, sorry little kitty. I'm sure you're scarred for life now." I laughed awkwardly as I put my yukata back on "Hey, at least I'm dry now, eh?" I hung my Jashin necklace loosely around my neck and put the rest of my gear on. I secured my arms around the grey tabby and lifted her up with me. And yes, I checked, it's a girl. I think I'll name her Sora.

As I left to go back to base, I realized how late it was. It was early afternoon when I left to go find a sacrifice and now it was pitch black outside. I probably missed dinner and living with eight guys takes its toll. They tear into whatever food is put in front gluttonous faces and don't leave any left over.

I honestly wish there were more girls in the Akatsuki. The only other girl is Konan but we really don't talk very much. Maybe I should try so I don't go insane. Or more insane than I already am. I mean I do kill people for a living.

I entered the base and went to the living area to show off my new pet. Tobi was sitting restlessly on the couch next to Deidara who was playing with a piece of clay. Itachi was sitting in the corner looking blankly at the wall and Kakuzu was sitting at a table counting money like always. I sighed. Everything is always the same. I flopped down on the couch next to Tobi with Sora still in my arms.
