Elijah
I'm not surprised that Rhea is here. Why wouldn't she be? I'm just surprised I actually ran into her, and she approached me.
It's odd, and somewhat refreshing to see her again.
I watch as she grins at me while challenging me to the famous banter we do.
"Obsessed? With you?" I chuckle, "Darling, I'm obsessed with myself, isn't that clear enough? I see myself in you."
"Bullshit. You didn't have to do anything you've done for me, and you did," she pauses, "and as far as I've seen, you don't have ulterior motives."
I lean closer to her, whispering just loud enough for her to hear, only her, "I wouldn't make it obvious, of course I have motives, your majesty. You've just never noticed with your fantasies clouding your mind."
She grins, leaning even closer to me, inches from my face, "I see you, just as much as you see me, I know a lie when I see one. I see you truly, darling."
For the first time in my life, I feel flustered. She matches me, without even realizing it.
It's becoming hard to keep calm around her, to keep my poker face.
"Quoting me now?" I ask, looking straight into her eyes, as our lips are merely inches away.
"I thought you said I mirror you? I'm only doing what you said."
I smile, "it's a beautiful sight to see."
She scoffs, "I am beautiful aren't I? I can't say the same for you, I guess it's a one sided mirror."
I laugh, fully laugh.
She's intriguing, too intriguing for my liking. I can't be laughing right now. Not with my original plan for coming here, and smiling at these snotty rich people. She's making me forget what I need to do, and that cannot happen.
"Anyways, where's your friend?"
I stare at her, confused.
"The guy. The one who was drooling on your pillow? I forgot to grab the paper with his number on it. He's funny."
And just like that, I'm gratefully reminded of my plan, and no longer distracted.
"Oh, your majesty, don't tell me you had a thing for him?"
She laughs, "No, but I feel sorry for the guy. He has to deal with you, I can only help him by giving a better presence."
I scoff, "Probably drunk, or training," I pause, "probably both."
She nods, "I'd have to be drunk around you too."
I start to speak, but she cuts me off, "Well this has been an unpleasant reunion, but I've got a lost soul looking around for me, so goodbye, see you... never?"
I shake my head, smiling, "Never say never, darling."
She ignores me, turning around, and walking off towards a frantic guy.
I watch as she puts a hand on his shoulder, smiling at him. He looks at her, and immediately calms down. He kisses her temple, then continues to look down at her, saying words I can't translate.
I look away in disgust, continuing to examine the guards at each exit.
Each guard has a handgun, a dagger hidden into their boots, and an assault rifle strapped to their back.
To the left of me, there is a hallway with small double doors, hidden from most of the guests.
I'm assuming that's where Rhea came from. The king and queen left soon after their entrance, and I assume it's got something to do with the queen I've become familiar with.
