PROLOGUE

          THE sky of bhava Lit up with lights and explosions of firework. The extravagant view of vivid green, red, orange, purple and yellow colors display against the night sky. The flamboyant fireworks illuminated the many revelers dancing in glee. The colors were so bright it almost felt like daylight as the people watched from a quiet spot, every roof in bhava celebrating the holy day of Mahashivratri.

Devotees of lord shiva wait in long queues for hours to offer prayer at the pilgrimage and temples of Lord Shiva and goddess Parvati. The chanting of mantra "om namah shivaya" in the prayers to the Lord Shiva

Queen Gayatri And emperor Rajya walk up the stairs to the pilgrimage as the pandits regarded them with blessings, the young princes walk on the either sides of the king and queen as they entered the temple.

"Puja vidhi Shuru ki jaaye"

The mahapandit edicts with a gesture of his hand, a smile on his face. The princes and the King and queen bowed before Lord shiva and soon the Mahashivratri puja starts

"Maharaj"

Mahapandit hands the milk to king as he anointed the milk over the head of Shiva linga and the king continues to perform the four prahars, followed by, rose water, sandalwood paste, honey, yoghurt, ghee, sugar, and the water.

Then maharani gayatri adorn the shiva linga with the garland of bilva leaves and applies chandan to the shiva linga followed by Lighting lamp and dhupa. She then continues to adorn the shiva linga with floral tassels and the sacred ash made with dried cow dung, Bhasm.

"Puja ke liye bethiye"

The king and queen along with the young princes sit around the fire pit.

"Mata"

The young prince tugs at his mother's saree and she looks at him as she softly smiles at him, cupping his puffy cheeks

"What is it my little kahil?"

Gayatri asks softly looking at his big doe eyes that looked adorably up at his mother, sinless, pure and naive.

"Why are the people celebrating this day? Is it very special?"

Mahapandit hears him and a hearty laugh leaves his throat and kahil look towards him, startled

"My young prince, The Lord shiva and Goddess parvati were married today, every year, this day is observed to celebrate their union"

A small smile forms on the young prince's lips as he now fully turns towards the mahapandit

"I've heard he grant wishes!"

He says, his voice expectant as he looks at the mahapandit, voices of laugh fills the room as the maharani ruffle his soft, light brown hair

"He does but only if you appease him my child"

Maharani replies and his eyes widens with more curiosity

"I want to appease him!"
"Tone it down. You're so loud"

The first prince grumbles in annoyance and kahil puffs his cheek, glairing at his older brother and the elders laugh again
