The sun dances on my eyelids and I breath in the warm air that has a hint of salt. I feel content and relieved that the nagging sharp pain in my ... i mean Brooklyn's... stomach.

Then I feel it... his finger tips grazing up my arm to my face where he gently tilts my chin. After many seconds of stillness I finally get to feel the warm roughness of his lips. Sweetness, compassion, and desire consumes every fiber of my being. This kiss is an earth shattering one but all of a suddenly took an unexpected turn and became a school boy peck on the lips. At that moment I realize that Dylan is no longer the owner of these lips.

My eyes shoot open as the sun is eclipsed by a bald head. Once I blink a couple of times I make out the smoldering brown eyes and my heart convulses. I feel it... Love.
Brooklyn's love.

I sit up and he gives me this diviner smile that melts my heart. We both giggle as if someone just said the funniest joke I'm the whole world.

He grabs my hand and says: "Come with me , Brooke."

So I do as I'm told and we sprint down the beach.

"Caleb, where are we going?"

"You'll see. It's a surprise."

We run up to the top of a hill where I spot a blanketed picnic and a stereo. We sit and begin to eat.

Brooke's in love with Caleb another cancer patient. Well I guess it really is true that you can't help who you fall for. Maybe I'm meant to do some greater good for the two of them. Maybe they can have a better chance than... than Dylan and I.

"Brooke?"
"Ya, sorry. I zoned out. What were you saying?"

He puts down his sandwich, takes my hands in his, and looks deeply into my eyes as he says: "I love you, Brooke."

My eyes shut and I bask in the amazing feeling. This feeling that makes me so weak in the knees that I completely and utterly fall for him in that moment.

Just as I open my eyes to reply that I love him as well I'm no longer at the beach. The coolness of the sheets chills me to the bone and I slowly sit up. I look around the room as my eyes begin to adjust and just as they settle on a hospital chair a few feet from my bed.

Him... it's really him. It's Caleb.
