Inspired by the wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton...

Her chest was constricted

Heart aflutter with anxiety

Butterflies in her stomach

Trying to show propriety

Clutching her Father’s hand

Hoping to quell the shaking

Staring up the ornate aisle

Towards the choice she’s making

She can only just see him

Wearing his army uniform

And upon his lips he smiles

The day is no longer norm

As the music begins to play

A soft and inspiring melody

She takes the first steps

Fighting to remain steady

As she draws ever nearer

She cannot help but grin

A shy blush upon her cheeks

The distance wearing thin

When she is near enough

He reaches his gloved hand

Her Father passes hers to him

Exactly as it was planned

His smile has widened further

Eyes alight with admiration

She stares through her veil

Fighting back her hesitation

“There are no words to describe,

How beautiful you are today.”

He whispers, quiet and quickly

Before the priest got in the way

There were no words she had

To say without any kind of delay

To compare to his declaration

“I love you”  was all she could say

They then turned together

The priest greets the crowd

Says a prayer, prepares the vows

Parents stand up proud

The pair is then united

With the passing of rings

A final declaration of love

Becomes the strongest of things

Then slowly as he can

He raises her veil of lace

And flips over her tiara

To reveal her serene face

Delicately holding her cheek

“I love you” in a fleeting hiss

Before he pulls her closer

Sweeps her into a longing kiss

They are completely alone

The crowd is no longer there

Enclosed in their own world

Fingers tangled in their hair

When their lips have parted

From her feet he lifts her high

Swirling her around in delight

To him she lets out a sigh…

“This day could be no better,

For the love we have is priceless

For you my handsome Prince

I’ll always be your Princess…”
