As Amadeus and I sat outside on the porch, gazing up at the stars, I couldn't help but bring up the topic of reincarnation.
"oppa," I said, "do you believe in reincarnation?"
Without missing a beat, Amadeus replied, "Yes, I do. Why do you ask, lil sis?"
"It's just been on my mind lately," I said, feeling a bit hesitant.
Amadeus turned to me and gave me a reassuring smile. "It's okay, sis. Reincarnation is a natural part of life."
I leaned in closer, eager to hear more about his beliefs. "Can you tell me why you believe in it?" I asked.
Amadeus eyes took on a faraway look. "I've experienced it myself," he said. "When I was younger, I had a girlfriend who I loved deeply. We were so happy together. But one day, she died in a car accident, and it shattered me."
I could feel the sadness in his voice, and I knew this was a difficult topic for him. "Mianhae, oppa" I said softly.
Amadeus shookt his head. "It's okay, sis. What's important is that she's still with me, in a way."
I didn't quite understand what he meant, and I asked him to explain.
"Years later, I got married and had a daughter," Amadeus said. "And when she was born, I knew immediately that she was the reincarnation of my girlfriend. She had the same eyes, the same smile, even the same laugh."
I sat there in stunned silence, trying to process what he was saying. "So...she's your girlfriend, but she's also your daughter?" I asked.
Amadeus nodded. "Ne, sis. It's strange and beautiful at the same time. I believe that souls are infinite, and they continue on even after our physical bodies die. My girlfriend's soul found a new vessel in my daughter."
I couldn't help but feel a sense of wonder and awe at Amadeus words. "That's amazing, oppa," I said.
Amadeus smiled at me. "It really is, baby. And it just goes to show that life is so much bigger than we can ever imagine. Reincarnation is just one of the ways our souls continue on."
