I awoke a couple hours later. The room they secured me in is dark and drearry. On the floor near my right foot in a dead body. The body was male and shriveled as hell and gray and he looked like he'd had all the life sucked out of them.
That's when I remember. My heart dropped and my breathing became labored. Yoon - Jae is up there alone on the floor. If they find him they will surely let him go and I'll never find out the truth. I hear whispers outside the room.
"Well we can't just let him live! What if he turns into a monster? He'll kill us all!" Said the voice of a woman. I can see her in my perriferal vision. She's holding a tiny Pomeranian puppy. I saw his collar before I was tazed, his name is Bom. He's kind of cute.
"Yea. Mr. Seok - Hyeon, how about you go kill him? He's still knocked out, it should be easy. Your the 'leader' after all." Replied the man in the gray shirt, making big air quotes with his fingers.
"Fine, fine, just let me get a weapon." So they are going to kill me, huh? Oh, this will be fun. As the people walk away I lift my head and take in a deep breath. The room smells like dust and mothballs. I hate the smell of dust.
I put my head back down as Seok - Hyeon comes in. He's wearing a gas mask like I'm toxic or something. He slid his finger in and cleaned off the lenses before coming closer to me. He pulls a knife out from behind his back and grasps the red handle with his shaking hands.
As he raises the knife above him I look him directly in the eyes before kicking him in the shin. They didn't secure my legs, how amature. The knife lodges itself in the chair a mear centimeter from my inner thigh. I wind my head back and headbutt him as hard as I can, his chin slamming into the floor as he's knocked out cold. I slide my arm farther into the bindings, managing to grab the knife. I slice the rope off my left wrist before using my free hand to free the other. I stand up, tossing the knife on the floor as I leave.
I exit the room, seeing the combination padlock they put around the door to keep me in. It's quite funny, actually. I need to bind this wound and see if Yoon - Jae is still there. If he's not I will not rest until I find him.
I knock over the weak barricade to the outside stairs. It's a couple hallway lockers, desks and chairs lazily thrown against the door. Just as I'm leaving, Mr. Seok - Hyeon wakes up and starts screaming "The gangster escaped! He assaulted me and left!"
I begin my treck up the stairs. I grab a cigarette from my back pocket. They didn't take these from me, thank god. I go to reach for my lighter but can't find it. I grumble angrily. I guess it fell out of my pocket while I was in the chair. How annoying.
As I continue up the stairs I see Eun - Yu. She's standing on the platform between the stair cases, smoking a cigarette and holding my lighter. I guess she grabbed it at some point. I roughly pat her shoulder, holding out my hand.
"Oh, you want this back? Here you go." She smirks at me again. She changed out of her skirt and is now wearing ripped skinny jeans. I light my cigarette, taking a large breath. The smoke billows from my mouth like clouds. I continue up the stairs, but Eun - Yu starts following me. I stop, turning to look at her. "What? I need to get upstairs too, keep walking!" She says.
"Hey, how are you feeling," she says. "Do you feel like hurting me and eating my brains? rrrRAAAAAAAH!" God she's childish. I roll my eyes and continue up the stairs. We're on the 7th floor now. As I'm about to head up again, Eun - Yu grabs me by the shirt. "Hey. If you turn into a monster..." She pulls out the tazer Seok - Hyeon used on me earlier, pushing down on the trigger and sending sparks up into my face. "I'll kill you. Ok?" She smirks again before hurrying up ahead of me. I finally get onto the 8th floor, opening the door and slamming it behind me.
I speed walk to his room, slamming the key into the lock and opening it. He's still on the floor, thank god. I lean against the door, locking it with my left hand as I breathe for a second. I grab Yoon - Jae and throw him over my shoulder, bringing him into his bedroom and throwing him onto his bed. I close the door behind me, pulling another cigarette out of my pocket and lighting it. There's still a roll of duct tape in the bag. That should work.
I remove my shirt, tossing it over onto the couch. I turn the news back on as I sit in a chair with the duct tape. She bit my burned shoulder. I stick the beginning part of the tape onto my back, pulling it up next to my face, the tape making a loud crackling noise as I do so. I bring it back down and up again, wrapping it at least 8 times. I tear the tape off and put it on the coffee table. I lean back, relaxing. The wooden chair feels rough against my skin.
The TV signal is crackly and distorted, but I can still hear the emergency announcement siren from it, so I look up. I breathe out smoke, most of it going up my nose.
"Attention citizens. We have officially declared a state of emergency across all of South Korea. We will give you information as it comes to us. The President intends to give a speech at 20:30. Please be prepared." The TV cuts off, the signal going out. It's 19:45 right now, I still have some time. I pull my shirt back on and sit back into the chair. Time to hear what Mr. President has to say.{Wow, for saying I wouldn't write that much I've made 4 chapters in one day, haha! I may write less frequently when I go back to school on Monday but who knows. Final word count for this chapter is 1097 words.}
