Emilia Maxon is a young woman of twenty-three years of age who is going about her daily life.
She was walking to work, head down, when something on the ground caught her eye. She bent to pick it up and realized it was a map of some kind. The paper was crumpled and worn from use, with faded lettering above crossed swords that read "The Sign Of The Cold Map".
Emily paused at the corner and pulled a faded, yellowed map from her pocket. She ran her finger along its creases and curves, tracing the winding paths she might take to work. With a shrug, she tucked it back in her coat and set off with purpose.
When she entered the office, she was curious to examine the map more closely and understand why it had intrigued her so. But at the same time, part of her felt anxious about what secrets it may hold. Was she prepared for what she might find out? Would this knowledge bring about change, or would it be better if left unknown? In spite of all these doubts, she couldn't help but feel drawn to its mysteries.
She pulled the map out of her pocket and examined it further. She saw the point marked with a black X.
"Ugh." She gritted her teeth, her eyes narrowing into slits of rage. The area was too close for comfort - mere miles from the place she called home. Her stomach churned with a terrible dread as an icy chill seeped through her veins at the realization of her proximity to the place she had so desperately been trying to escape.
