Two Pokémon were sneaking through the forest. One of them had blue and white fur with a strange looking shell stuck to his belly and walked on two feet; the other had orange and red fur with six tails and walked on all fours. They were both treading carefully through the dense foliage as if they were expecting something to jump out at them at any moment. Every step they took was slow and deliberate. Their eyes were narrowed as they tried to see through the darkness and their ears were perked up to listen for any kind of movement. The minutes seemed to trickle by, neither one willing to move too fast for fear they might be found. After what seemed like an eternity of dead silence there was a sudden rustling in the forest. Both Pokémon jumped into fighting stances and looked around wildly to find the cause.

A giant shadow burst out of the foliage. It shot directly towards the two Pokémon, but they both deftly jumped to the side. They fired attacks at the shadow, but the shadow had already disappeared back into the forest. The two Pokémon stood tail to tail, watching for the next strike. The rustling continued all around them as if they were surrounded, but they both knew for a fact there was only one true opponent. The shadow rushed them again, and again they dodged.

This time, the shadow quickly changed direction when it rushed and trapped the red Pokémon in a monstrous shadowy claw protruding from its arm. The blue Pokémon spun around and attempted to attack the shadow, but was stopped short by a cry of pain from his partner. The shadow said something in a distorted, demanding voice and raised the red Pokémon aloft. The blue Pokémon growled and the shadow squeezed harder. The red Pokémon screamed in agony, causing the blue Pokémon to grimace. He agreed to surrender as long as nothing bad happened to his partner. The shadow agreed and released the red Pokémon. She collapsed and fainted due to fatigue. The shadow then jumped at the blue Pokémon.

The shadow swallowed up the blue Pokémon, engulfing it in darkness. He struggled, but to no avail. There seemed to be nothing to struggle against; nothing but empty space. He could feel his strength fading fast, but he refused to give up. Not now. Not when they were so close. He continued to struggle, unable to break free from the darkness. A voice started laughing from the darkness. The laughter drowned out any thoughts the blue Pokémon had. It rang in his head, echoing in and out of focus. He began to lose consciousness. He was falling. There was nothing he could do. Before he lost consciousness entirely he had one final thought.

"I'm sorry Raven..."
