Run.
With a heavy heart, she made a run for it. She bolted towards the exit of the greenhouse. Not without the guards noticing though. What did she expect? They were universal guards. Much more was on the line, of course they would spot her.
How the hell would she survive this time?
May quickly thought up a solution; albeit a risky one. She ran into the main system room, blocking the door with a barrier giving her some time and hurriedly inputting the random coordinates into the teleportation disk. The guards' footsteps were nearing faster than her heart was beating, urging her to type faster.
"You can't do that! The system coordination is still being repa-"
The voice's sentence was cut off as May lost consciousness, a bright blue light engulfing her; a clear sign of teleportation.
May opened her eyes, the only greeting she received being the broken and battered old door. Her heart was still racing calming herself down, and there seemed to be no end to the thoughts flowing through her pounding head.
Still, a breath of relief escapes her lips as
she tries to figure out what kind of trouble she'd get if she were caught in her little 'adventure'.The broken door that seems to be the reason she was here. On it was a plaque that read 'dream door'. It was dusty but still pristine compared to the door it sat upon.
Is she in a dream? Was she just knocked unconscious?
The 'dream door' plaque vanished within seconds, leaving the old moldy door blank. May decided to finally investigate her surroundings.
The area was vast, and stretched infinitely across the horizon. There were doors everywhere. Some where even colliding in ways she's sure weren't possible in the 3rd dimension. At the corner of her eye, she saw a flight of stairs. There were more stairs, but considering how a huge portion of these doors were all warped in some sort of way, there was a chance that could be a door as well.
May climbs up and notices the exact same thing as downstairs when she looked up.
But the doors on this floor had different way of color. Downstairs, the doors were colored an institutional type off white, with possibly trick-of-the-eye undertones of interesting colors, she observed.
It wasn't necessarily just the color. Each door was unique, but each 'floor' the doors had this one small difference. Not too much that you could guess which floor it was from, but not so little you couldn't tell them apart. Just enough to see that the door was out of place.
She looked up and saw that the doors above the floor had 'brighter' colors.
She then looked down again, only to see that the broken door and the way back down was gone.
Suddenly, the 'ground' was shaking—
—and a table appeared on the clear ground, coming from nowhere at all. May felt all of the hairs in her body stand on end, the sudden appearance filled her with a strange sense of dread, still gripping tightly on the bag that holds the most precious thing in the whole universe.
The Realms Core, where everything started.
The table that had appeared so suddenly held a book on top of it.
May didn't move nor blink.
After few seconds of waiting to see if something, anything, would happen, May slowly crept closer to the table slowly with caution, ready to block whatever attack came at her.
When she was close enough to see the title of book, it opened, startling her. Nonetheless, she didn't back away. Two words started to appear on the book.
[Welcome, May.]
May didn't say anything as she looked closely at it. Soon, more words appeared.
[This place is abnormal world, be warned. There are monsters that might harm you if they see you.]
She remained silent at this.
[I don't expect you to trust me, but I will warn you again. Be careful with which door you open, each realm here is connected in a way, thanks to the core you brought with you.]
'How do they know...?'
[In each realm you can only stay for a few days before a monster grabs you to go back here before you go to another realm.]
[That monster is my pet Robby, he's a
good boy, just don't be rude to him. His job is to keep you out of this mess, dear...Queen.]'So what, I have a title in this realm now?' May thought to herself, sentence spiked with sarcasm and spite, looking at the elements of the book with a hateful fervor.
[During your stay in different realms, there are areas where a door back here can be found. It is your choice, go back on your own volition or wait for Robby to get you.]
[Monsters aside from Robby are...]
There was a moment of hesitation coming from the writer. May only knew that because of the slightly bigger dot of ink at the tip of the 'e', before the writing continued.
[...not as docile. Very dangerous as well.
I know you can handle everything but with your wounded self, I don't think you will last much longer :)][If you want to get out of here, find the <EXIT>. Good Luck.]
May continued to stare at the book's writing, eyebrows furrowed and muscles tense. Seeing this, (or sensing, you never know.), the entity that had been communicating with her began to write once again.
[If I were you, I would start searching. Just so you know, going to realms can
cause a lot of trouble for you :)]May closed the book and started to try and search for this 'exit'.
This was all too strange and detailed for a dream...
'Should I open a door?'
May pick the door that looked 'simple'. In her eyes, the door was colored red, just bloody red.
May opened the door.
