Prologue - Getting Up To Speed

Welcome my fellow readers. It is I, the narrator speaking. Can you hear me? Well, of course you can't, but you can read what I'm trying to convey, at least.

Now, I know what you're all going to do. You're going to skip past this prologue and just go onto the main story, aren't you? Well, if there's a lesson I can give you, the prologue is actually quite important, in some books more than others. In this book, this prologue has quite a bit of important info, so hey, I recommend you read through it without flicking past.

Well, anyway, I may never return to the events of the story, but, I am here to introduce you to our starting-off characters.

First off, we have Sam. His full name is Samuel Stewart.

Sam is the main character of this story, and is a generally amiable and kind person. He's 13, in Year 9, and his birthday is on March the 16th. He often keeps up a commentary in his head, talking to himself through his thoughts, and keeps a quotesbook of stupid or touching words of wisdom from those around him. He has a younger brother called Cole, who he bears a striking resemblance to.

Appearance-wise, Sam is just over five feet tall, has short brown hair, and wears glasses, due to his short-sightedness. Don't forget that now.

Second, we have Dave. His full name is David Brown.

Dave is one of the secondary characters in this story, who usually keeps up a happy and positive attitude, but is easily discouraged and sensitive to insults and the like. He's 13, is in Year 9, and his birthday is on August the 14th. He tries not to show his negative emotions, in order not to impact those around him. From his birth, he has had the ability to control light, for unknown reasons.

Appearance-wise, Dave is around 6 feet tall, has dirty blonde hair, and has bright blue eyes. Don't forget all this either.

Thirdly, we have Matilda.

Another one of the secondary characters, Matilda is in fact Dave's best friend. Matilda is 13, is in Year 9, and her birthday is on March the 5th. She is generally a nice person, who excels in all aspects of physical ability, from basketball to javelin-throwing.

Appearance-wise, Matilda is approximately 5 and a half feet tall, has chestnut coloured hair, and green eyes. Again, don't forget this.

Fourthly, we have Jay. His full name is James Taylor.

A little less relevant to the story than the other two secondary characters, Jay is a generic person who excels in technology. He's 14, he's in Year 9 and his birthday is on September the 17th. He is sometimes creepy, occasionally dozing off with his eyes open, incredibly clumsy, but tries to keep his cool, even if it is to no avail.

Appearance-wise, Jay is five feet tall, has messy brown hair, freckles and green eyes. Even though Jay is forgetful, please do not forget this.

Fifthly, we have Isaac.

Isaac is a recurring character in this story, a dragon, who is searching the world for his long-lost brother.

Appearance-wise, he is primarily white with light blue scales, and is able to produce lightning from his mouth. Please, don't forget this.

And finally we have Blazej. 

The least relevant recurring character in this story is the Polish Blazej, which explains his odd name. He's 13, is in Year 9 and his birthday is on December the 3rd. Pronounced Bwajay, he is often seen vibing to music or scrolling through memes. Although rather unusual in his antics, and somewhat mischievous, Blazej is a generally nice person...I think.

Appearance-wise, Blazej is around 5 and a half feet tall, has dirty blonde hair and brown eyes. For the final time, do not forget this.

And that's about it for our starting characters. Sam, Dave, Matilda, Jay, Isaac and Blazej. Now, my audience, friends, foes, frenemies and acquaintances alike, I verily hope that you enjoy this book, and as my final plea...
