~Y/N's Pov~

I didn't expect the flight back to New York to be so quick. In my defense, I did sleep through it while Nat flew the Quinjet back. I was tired because I couldn't sleep yesterday, I kept thinking of what Nat wanted to say to me that night. One second she wanted to talk, the other second she said to forget about it. What did she want to say!? But, if I know Nat, she would've told me if it was life-threatening. She wasn't so eager to say whatever she wanted to say. I should trust her and forget about it.

With our luggage in our hands, we went up the elevator.

"Welcome back you two (2)!" Wanda cheered.

I lift my head and was greeted by a cheerful Wanda, a huge smile plastered on her face. Not even giving Nat and me a chance to greet her back, she dragged us into her embrace. She squeezes us both against her, almost suffocating us before she lets go. I send her a smile and finally get a chance to say my greetings.
We went to place our bags in our rooms, Wanda lurking behind us. Wanda's truly excited to see us, it must've been lonely here, only Steve stopping by once in a while. Although, I'm sure others came to visit her, maybe Thor to raid the kitchen for Pop-tarts.
After delivering our bags, we went upstairs where Wanda had breakfast prepared. I was shocked to see the amount of food. I shouldn't be shocked actually since she's the "mom" of the group and cooks a lot.

We were sitting around the table, Wanda on my left and Nat sitting in front of us.

Wanda assumes, "I'm guessing the mission went well?" With my mouth full of food, I let Nat answer her theory, "It did, it went quick thanks to Y/N" Nat replies.
I sarcastically roll my eyes, "No no, it was just an easy mission" I shrug.
"Well duh, it's you two (2); the ultimate duo! Whenever you guys work together the job goes by fast. The best Shield Agents"
Wanda compliments. I smile gently down at my food. Ultimate duo. I heard the forks scrape against the plate and look up at Nat as she talks.

"You should consider joining Shield, Wanda. Then we'll be the ultimate trio"
Nat says.

"Oh, no," Wanda declines with a soft chuckle, "I'm only helping the Avengers if they need my powers. I want to work at a vet" She adds.

If I'm being honest, a vet suits her. Wanda is the type of woman that has a passion for animals, especially dogs like Golden Retrievers. She used to talk about her dog all the time, unfortunately he got very sick and passed away.

Wanda's expression changed suddenly, almost like her energy drained out. I asked her what was wrong and she smiles to herself, a weak smile.
The vibe left the room once Wanda told what was on her mind. My heart sank and I let go of a shaky sigh. She invited everyone to the funeral of Pietro and asked us to go tomorrow. I guess this past week was complicated for Wanda and she recovered from her sorrow. She finally came to her senses and decided to discuss a funeral for her brother. He didn't have to die.

I gently place my hand on her shoulder, squeezing it softly.

"Of course, we'll come," I say, Nat, agreeing, "Yeah, we're here for you Wanda"

We talked until our plates and glasses were empty, our bellies full. Wanda believed that Nat and I worked hard and still needed a break, so Wanda said she'll take care of the dirty clothes we wore to Budapest and put the snacks we brought back, back into the kitchen. While Wanda was busy washing our clothes, I went to my room.
J.A.R.V.I.S, the AI Tony made inside the wall automatically made a monitor screen pop out of the room wall which made me flinch. Fury was calling, so J.A.R.V.I.S accepted it and Fury popped up on the monitor. We talked about the mission, and him thanking me and will thank Nat probably later. He also congrats me on my second successful mission which I appreciate a lot.
After we exchanged goodbyes, J.A.R.V.I.S took away the monitor and ended the call. I flip back onto my bed, kicking my feet up. "Funeral's tomorrow" Wanda's words keeps replaying in my head. I might not have known Pietro for that long, but I could tell how he cared about Wanda. They were twins after all. I feel so bad for her.
I lift my head once I heard knocking at my door. No other than Wanda, standing at the door frame with a small grin.
I hope she didn't read my mind.
