"Professor," Dumbledore looked up from the parchment to see Ruby standing beside the door. He motioned his hand forward with a smile as Ruby entered the room and closed the door.

Before Dumbledore could let a word out, she said,

"Professor, I wrote to you on vacation, and I didn't get any reply from you except for my results."

Dumbledore slid the parchment in front of her as Ruby looked confused.

"Read it, Miss Lupin." she took the parchment in her hand as her eyes scanned the letter.

Dear Miss Lupin,

I would be pleased to welcome you in our order, but before that, you're supposed to be trained with all the Charms, including the killing curse.

If you want to save your loved ones and this world from the death eaters, then you have two options.

If yes, you shall join our order unofficially.

If not, then you can watch your loved one

Ruby tore the paper into bits as she glared at Dumbledore, who looked at her with that same smile.

"I will not let any of my people die in vain!" She growled in anger as she walked towards the door furiously. Before she could walk out, she said,

"I'll join."

With that, she walked out. Dumbledore smiled triumphantly.

It has been a week since she joined the order, and Ruby was waiting from Dumbledore for her training.

Ruby was sitting with Eleanor in the library, and to her surprise, Eleanor was studying.

"Are you alright?" Eleanor flinched at her voice as she nodded her head.

"I'm fantastic," she said, and Ruby knew that Eleanor was joking. Ruby rolled her eyes at the sarcasm as she looked aside to see Remus staring at Eleanor with... sad eyes? He averted his gaze once he got caught by Ruby.

She frowned at his behavior. Their behavior .

"Are-- are you sure? It doesn't seem like that to me, " Ruby said as Eleanor nodded and took the books in her hand and threw a look at Remus before looking at Ruby.

"You could ask that to your brother," she said coldly and walked out. Ruby was stunned by her behavior. She also packed her books and walked to her brother, who was also packing his stuff.

"Remy? What happened between you two? And why is El being like this?" She asked, but Renus ignored her and walked out of the library. Ruby scoffed in disbelief as she followed him and dragged him by his arm to a corner of the corridor.

"What the hell is wrong with you two?! " He didn't utter a word.

"Speak!" She demanded as Remus sighed.

"She confessed to me! And I rejected her!"

"Remus... I want to say something to you, " Eleanor said as she looked straight into his eyes. Never in his life did he feel this nervous. Those eyes were killing him.

"Ye-- yeah?"

"I love you, Remus John Lupin," his widened with surprise. His heart was pacing faster, and he was scared that he might faint.

"Past year, you were there for me when no one was... Ruby was also there for me... but somehow, your presence made me feel better. And throughout the year, your letters, the way you approached me.. it made me realize that I don't see you as a friend. " she paused on her words as she smiled.
