"Mika, can you take those objects to the warehouse, please?"

"Yes, father! I'm on it!"

My name is Mika Irantia. I live on a seashore with my father, far away from the main village. But this beach, it's no ordinary beach! When no one is looking, various objects can be found ashore here! It can vary from junk like plastic bottles and seashells, to something unusual like a broken motorbike and even a telephone booth. Me and my father don't know how these things ended up ashore, but we don't take our gift for granted. We always take objects we deem worth some price in the warehouse, for which later to be sold in the village market. It's a good side job for me and my father to do, since there isn't much fish to be found on the sea, and we still don't know why.

Today, I've found myself a small wooden drawer with various tools to write inside of it! I'm so happy as I've always loved writing, but getting supplies to write, like paper and ink, are so expensive. With this, I can finally spend my time doing what I love. Even yesterday, father found a pile of wooden planks tied tidily with a red rope, and they seem to be newly cut. And with those wooden planks, father managed to fix our house a little bit, so we have no more leakage from rain. This beach sure is full of surprises, isn't it?

"Father, are you going to the village today?"

"Yes. But you're not allowed to come along."

"Huh? Why?"

"Today's weather has been quite hectic. If I were to be trapped in the rain, I don't want you to feel the same. We have proper warmth in the house, and many thick blankets. I'm sure you'll be fine."

"But..."

"Besides, I'll always be home on the evening, like I usually do. Nothing to worry about."

"... Yes, I suppose you're right. I'm sorry, then I'll be waiting for you here."

"Be a good girl, okay? I'll be sure to bring you something good to eat tonight."

"I'm looking forward to it!"

And after patting me on the head, he left to the village with his bike, attached to a carriage full of objects from the warehouse. This is usually how our day went, even though normally I would go along with father. I can understand, though. I wouldn't want to be trapped under the rain either.

Well then, seeing as I have nothing else to do, I think I'll go write something!
