The darkened windows gave the sign that it was late without having to read the clock. I turned to the man sitting across from me "Oh my, it's gotten pretty late." He turned to look out the window before giving a laugh. "Oh my, I completely forgot! New friend, I'm afraid I can't show you around today because it's so late, I'm sorry."
He gave a sorrowful look but I simply replied back with a reassuring smile and a shake of my head. "Oh no, it's fine. I hope you didn't have anything important today, haha." My light laugh brightened his mood, as I stood up, giving a stretch. He stood up after and followed, as I walked him back to the door. I opened the door and he stopped to give a final goodbye.
"Are you free tomorrow?" I questioned, receiving in response "Well, I was going to hang out with my friend Barnaby, but I can always ask him if you can come along! I'd love for you to meet him!" I smiled as he started getting excited. Though after a second he was calmed down with a yawn, bringing his hand to cover his mouth as he did so.
The sight made me chuckle "Sure, I'll see you tomorrow then. Bye." He stepped outside the door and waved as I shut it. Once it was shut I laughed, thinking about some jokes he cracked earlier. I walked back to the previous room, grabbing my plate. As I went to go grab it, I saw the cookies he had sat down. A few were burned, and they were all nervously piled on the plate. There was a note beside it. Being curious, I opened the letter.

Dear Neighbor,
I'd like to be the first to welcome you to the neighborhood. Stop by my place sometime and I'll take you to Howdy's store. I promise there's no brunt cookies there. :)
Sincerely,

It was so sweet I started grinning on the spot. Within the few hours you already learned he was very kind, and the note only proved it. He was a jester though, as he said he got it from his friend Barnaby. I sifted through the pile of cookies and found the biggest one I could that wasn't burnt, I took it with me as I walked into my bedroom. I bit it, holding it in my mouth as I grabbed a spray bottle filled with water.
I watered my plants, eating the cookie as I go. I had been growing some trees, simple flowers, and succulents. I had to admit, I have named every one of them. Afterwards, I took a shower, washing off all of what I put on today. I thought people were going to see it due to me being outside, but now I knew that didn't go as planed. Oh well, at least Wally got to see it I suppose.
I shrugged it off, drying myself after my shower and changing into some new pajamas. I got in bed, sinking into as I looked around in the dark, just barely able to see my plants. "Goodnight guys, I can't wait to hang out with Wally tomorrow."

I think my brain might have taken my words last night too seriously, because I quite literally had no sleep. Nonetheless, I couldn't cancel on poor Wally, he went through all that work to make me feel included and to hang out with me. I sluggishly got up and got ready, walking to the kitchen afterwards and making myself breakfast. I decided to make extra food for if Wally and maybe his friend were hungry. As I sat down and ate, I heard a knock on the door. I quickly shouted "I'm coming!"
I got up and ran to the door, almost tripping as I got up. I opened the door, expecting to see a blue haired man, but got met with the face of a stranger. He had red hair and a different nose I haven't seen before, but it really fit his face well. His face was red and he was as stiff as a doornail. "Hello."
He quickly decided to speak afterwards, seemingly to not be awkward. "Hello, I'm Eddie. I'm the postman. You're..?" He looked down at the envelope in his hands ,that I just now noticed he had, before looking back up at me. "You're (Y/N) right?" I smiled and nodded.
"Ah, perfect. I just figured I'd let you know I'll be your postman from now on, (Y/N). It seems like you got a letter from your parents." His hand went to scratch his hair under his hat as he looked at the mail, trying to connect the dots, as the people on the envelope assumingly had the same last name. He handed me the envelope, and I took it gratefully. "Thank you, Eddie. I hope you have an amazing day."
He smiled the brightest, most clumsy smile I've seen since I got here. "Thanks, you too." He walked off, giving a wave goodbye as I waved back. I shut my door and went back to eating my breakfast. After awhile I was still waiting, so I decided to turn on the TV while I waited.
While I surfed through the TV, I decided on 'Star Trek: The Animated Series' (Keep in mind, this was the late 60's to early 70's). I tried my best to stay awake, but slowly I saw that my eyes were shutting. I tried to keep them open but the weight slammed them shut, and I fell asleep.
