Late Morning
A regular habit for one Carter Vance is to work out at the Performance Center. As one of the standouts of his training class who got signed to an NXT contract, he always maintained this focus to remain a dependable talent.
As he excelled and was given multiple opportunities at the NXT North American Championship as well as the NXT Championship, he was never able to win them. Despite it al, the feuds that involved him showed the upper brass that despite the losses, he can always be the reliable go-to guy to ensure ratings go up.
As he worked out, he had been seeing regularly one of the NXT alumna still rehabbing or wanting to ensure they still have sharpened their skills. One such Alumna is the former hugger, now Role Model, Bayley.
Carter focused on his set as he saw the former Raw and Smackdown Women's Champion was doing her rehab sets. As Carter was working on his weights, he saw Bayley and didn't realize that he was talking to an alumna and not a trainee. After finishing his set, he did not hesitate and approach her.
Carter: I see you know your way with these machines huh?
Bayley: Oh shut up! *laughs* But hey, you new around here dude?
Carter: Not really, I'm an NXT superstar *with a tinge of swag* Carter Vance, or Christian Vincent Nieto *reaches out a hand*
Bayley: Oh, a new guy. Name's Pamela Martinez, or Bayley. *shaking his hand*
They shared a handshake as he was still wrapping his head around around this beautiful rose.
Bayley: No wonder you don't know me. You just got signed recently, no?
Carter: Yeah, anywho...
Before they had more small talk, Bayley's phone rang.
Bayley: Oh shoot! My rehab trainer's here. Guess I'll be seeing you around new guy?
Carter: *speechless* I hope...so.. Oh I mean, see you next time!
Bayley giggles as she went her way. Carter was still entranced but was still able to train away for the day before NXT went live the next day.

Full Sail University
Winter Park, Florida
NXT started as usual with Carmelo Hayes, the North American Champion, with his sidekick Trick Williams, hyping up the "A Champion".
Trick: Hey hey, how about you all rise up and put respect in our A Champion for gracing his presence!
The people booed as Carmelo began to speak.
Carmelo: Then I return the disrespect to you ungrateful idiots anyway! Trick, remind me, has anyone ever come close to beating me as North American Champion?
Trick: Well, that is a big N to the AW!
Carmelo: No huh? Well, that shows how much of a great A Champion I am!
Vic: Wait a minute
Wade: That's Carter Vance!
Vic: We haven't seen him since TakeOver!
Wade: I bet Melo's words didn't sit well but Trick Williams is there so I see a vain attempt at whatever the hell he is thinking
Carter: Melo, enough!
Trick: You just returned for another butt whooping!
Carter: You too, enough! You can run your mouth but I want another chance at that North American Championship!
Carmelo: Wow, you sure are an idiot because you've had more chances than I can count. But I'm feeling pretty generous, tell me what you'll wager if you lose this time around?
Carter: Being in NXT
The crowd gasped audibly as Trick and Carmelo nod in agreement
Carmelo: Alright, let's get this started ....but since a referee is out here, let's get this North American Champion showcase started because after I'm done with you....
Trick; YOU'RE DONE HERE! GONE FOREVER!
Carter: A chance and risk I'm willing to take!
Carter runs into the ring and throws his jacket at Trick as Carmelo starts to pummel on Carter before the referee separates the two with a reprimand before the match starts
Timeskip to the last minutes of the NXT North American Championship
Carter Vance v. Carmelo Hayes (c) (w/ Trick Williams)
Hayes had been on the receiving end of the offense from Vance as Vance had to ward away every offensive maneuver from Hayes, with the occasional interference from Trick Williams.
Carmelo takes in a Pop-Up Fastball Right Handed Hook as Carter roars to the crowd, signaling the end. As he tries to get to the top rope, Trick steps up on the apron as Carter goes down and hits a clothesline, taking down the accomplice of Hayes.
As Vance goes to the top rope again, he goes for the Diving Elbow Drop, but at the last minute, Hayes rolls away. Vance nurses his elbow as he is bent down, which gives Hayes the opportunity to go to the top rope himself to hit Nothing But Net and covering the challenger.
ONE...TWO...THREE!
Alicia Taylor: The winner of this match, and still, North American Champion, Carmelo Hayes!
Wade: Hayes finally got a challenger off his back! One more win for the A Champion!
Vic: Stop it Wade! Had it not been for Trick, Vance would still be in NXT as North American Champion
Wade: We're now rid off one Carter Vance. Where will he go?
The TV cameras cut off after Hayes and Williams celebrate on their way to the back. Carter Vance gets up and looks at the NXT faithful in attendance as he was cheered with, "Thank you Carter!"
Carter smiled but was shocked at the turn of events as it now washed him after he had said that line earlier.
Carter: Is this me getting released?
Backstage
After NXT
Carter was greeted by Shawn Michaels and Road Dogg applauding his efforts. Carter was confused as he did not know how to take this in.
Carter: Thanks, I guess?
Shawn: Hey, why the frown?
Road Dogg: You were impressive but I see you can give more and do more!
Carter: Outside the WWE?
Shawn: Outside? Hey, who is feeding you disinformation?
Carter: I don't know. I did say earlier I was gonna leave NXT had I lost, which I did.
Road Dogg: Oh! You got it all wrong, son. Actually, higher ups have been looking at you and they see that after your reliability and despite not winning the title, you're someone who can thrive up there!
Shawn: Short of saying, kid, welcome to the main roster! You will be reporting to Raw after Summerslam *slaps his back* consider this our send off for a dependable workhorse like you.
Carter was ecstatic and shocked. He shook both the hands of Shawn and Road Dogg
Carter: You both won't be disappointed.
Carter went back to his home and rested as he knew he had to prepare to head to Houston for the Raw after Summerslam.
