I took the paperwork from Commander Smith before taking it to be delivered to the higher ranked officers. After that, I went to the mess hall where the kids were cleaning up while the older cadets and ranked officers made their way to get a meal. I got in line and waited. I was nearing where to get the food when I felt hot air near my neck. I turn quickly, alarmed. It was Squad Leader Miche.
"Are you okay, Squad Leader?"
He hums, "I suppose."
I got my food and settled at an empty table to have Miche sit right next to me. Not long after, Captain Levi and Squad Leader Hange sat across from us. Hange was cheerful as ever.
"Hey, I've seen you before. You're one of Commander Erwin's errand runners."
I nod, "Yeah, Cadet -"
"[F/N]."
I looked to who said it, and it was Captain Levi, and he huffed,
"Her name is [F/N] shitty glasses."
"[F/N], sorry that I didn't know your name. It gets busy."
"It's alright, I understand."
It was quiet for a minute, and then Miche says,
"So how are things? Do you enjoy it here?"
"I suppose it is definitely busy."
I look up, and he smiles, "That's good to hear."
I look back at my food with a small smile before eating. We continued small talk before emptying our trays and cleaning up. I got back to work in Commander Erwin's office. He was always stressed, and I felt bad for him. He was actually very kind, though he was known as heartless. I enjoyed working for him. I was sweeping when he got my attention.
"You're not my maid [F/N]. No need to work too hard."
I smile, "I just don't want it to get dirty in here and make it difficult to work in here."
"Still, you should take the rest of the evening off."
I nod, putting the broom away, "Thank you, Commander Sir. I will be back tomorrow then."
I left and decided to take a shower, I dressed in casual attire, and as I walked out of the public bath, I bumped into a figure.
"Sorry -"
I look to see a bare torso. I looked up to see if it was Miche. He leans down and sniffs me again.
"Hello [F/N], sorry if I startled you."
"N-No, I wasn't paying attention."
"Erwin, give you the night off?"
"Yeah, there wasn't much else to do."
"He is kind to you, isn't he?"
"I suppose he's not heartless like what he's perceived to be... WellI won't keep you out here in this state of dress."
He smiles, "Oh, it's fine, I enjoy talking with you, even if it's briefly."
"Well, maybe sometime we can actually have a sit-down or something...If it's not any trouble, Squad Leader, sir."
